my dream ereader.
Hallo everyone,
![]() Seeing several reviews I cannot find my ereader ![]() Here is my ideal ereader I am dreaming every night (every feature is scored from 1 to 10): A(10) have to read pdf without issues B(10)have to be able to reflow them, or at least have to be big enough to see the pages at least in landscape, anyway I am not scared in bringing with me a 9 inch. C(10)dictionary I can touch the the screen, Since I am studying also Dutch I would like a dictionary professional aka the Collins inbuilt in Sony that lookup also the derivate forms. es doen but also gedaan as the great babylon did. D(10) have to permit me to highlight the text, better if taking note on the margin, but most IMPORTANT, I really need to have the possibility to read after only the highlighted parts(I mean otherwise does not have sense that I highlight text!!!) E(08) Light in the weight F(09) give me the possibility to build a table of content for levels so that I can navigate easily on really big books (chapter, paragraph, highlighted text) G(09) antiglare screen quite clear on sunny exposure. H(05) 3g I(02) wifi) L(03) browser M(05) acceptable text to speech N(07) = or > 1 week batteries lenght. O(08) expandible microsd or SD slot. Please tell me that exist something I am looking for, please bear in mind I live in Europe. I am oriented to buy also notion ink, and the new ipad in the case will have retina, or an anti glare technology, but I cannot wait till a realistic February, and in the end I need an ereader, because I am doing the best I can with a cool 4,3 inches htc to use android for other software and read with ezpdf with the backlight I can easily stop to eat to spare money for something really cool ![]() ![]() Ciao Last edited by trocchietto; 12-03-2010 at 01:11 PM. |

But what about the annotations with the sony 650? Can I then read only the annotations without to page through all the book from scratch? On the web I did not find any review about what happen after you did notes! and it is true that there is not difference in landscape mode between 650 and 950? Please reply I need as a drug |

Sounds like Sony PRS-950; strip 3g/wifi and it's a PRS-650.
PRS-950 3G won't work outside U.S but wifi will do. |

Sonys are great, but in landscape some people have found it annoying that instead of completely separating pages, it cuts a page into two separate pages (top half and bottom half) and overlaps as you turn a page, so that you will see the same words at the top of bottom half as at the bottom of the top half.
The 650 and 950 differ in landscape mode in that on the 950, you can view 2-page side-by-side mode, like how a real book looks with two pages next to each other, and there is no overlap in that view. The 650 cannot do this. I don't know if you'd want to read pdfs this way, but it is a landscape difference between the two. Keep in mind that I've heard Sonys aren't all that great with pdfs. They're the best of the major e-ink screens, but if you want to go bigger and LCD you may get a better pdf reader. Of all your other concerns though, I think a Sony 950 could be closest to perfect for you. It is light, has many dictionaries including Dutch, you can highlight and annotate, is anti-glare, has 3g and wifi and a browser, has a good battery life and has expandable memory. As for text to speech and building table of contents, I don't know. I hope this reply was satisfactory as a drug. ![]() |

Sony's PDF support is way better than any other 5" or 6". Well, larger screens are generelly better for PDFs but currently only Kindle DXG is available. Pocketbook 903 still isn't shipped and delivery has been postponed again. While Kindle DXG is 9.7" it lacks many of your requirements. |

PocketBook has the clearly superior reflow.
Sony's PDF support is 3rd behind PocketBook and Onyx. for instance Sony only just recently added persistent zoom while Onyx and PocketBook have always had it. Onyx has selection Zoom so you can select just one element on a page and blow it up to screen size, you can then scroll around very easily. PockeetBooks reflow now can flow the pictures along with the text. yes i sell both but that's why i chose them because of the superior PDF abilities, along openess. |
