Any affordable Kobo reader without WIFI? - Page 2

It's an issue of what is called the renderer. The dictionary is limited to the kepub format that Kobo uses and will not work on books that are not part of that system. It might be possible to change how the dictionary interacts with other books, but don't look for it any time soon (if at all).

How about free books downloaded from Kobo store ?

Yes--free books loaded through sync should be fine. I am actually not sure about books that are in PDF format, as I have not tried it. I will load a book in PDF format onto my reader through sync when I get home and let you know.
