I've seen similar here - it sort of works, certainly works a lot better than the usual manner.

One of the reasons cited for one of the driving tests I failed was given as driving too slowly for the circumstances. The circumstances were a residential road with cars parked on both sides, no other moving traffic but children (and adults) on the pavement, and a road slick with rain after a prolonged hot, dry period. Too slowly was 2mph below the posted limit.

The other major fault I made on that test was not stopping for a pedestrian who was near a zebra crossing. With his back to it, looking in a shop window at least one shop front away from the crossing.

On the whole, I think the examiner was having an off day.

While that may be quite true the cops aren’t going to give an 80 year old granny a ticket in most cases.

I had a woman who was over 75 run two stop lights causing me to hit her. She admitted it to the cop. At court she said that she had lived there all her life and didn't know why she didn't notice the red lights. The judge asked her if she could be more careful in the future! Perhaps it was a good thing that he didn't ask me anything.

Definitely having an off day

That is very poor on his/her part - sounds like you were just exercising common sense to me.

That's my 2nd most pet peeve.

My #1 rant is drivers that intentionally drive into intersections when they clearly see that the line of traffic has stopped and they cannot clear the intersection before the light changes - thereby blocking all cross traffic -- what I call the "if I can't go nobody can go" syndrome! I fantasize about renting a cement truck for a day and pushing one of these SOB's onto the sidewalk - watching their face the whole time!
That's a $92 fine here, and they station cops at some of the more flagrant intersections to enforce it.

The intersection-blocking or the cement-truck thing?

If shoving an ignorant fool out of my way with a large vehicle only cost me $92, I'm moving to where you live. Hell, I'll even throw in court costs and a vote for the judge next election cycle!

No such luck, it's the intersection blocking bit.

"zebra crossing"!? Where were you taking your test? Was another reason you failed because you drove through the zoo?!

Speaking of alligators ..... I wasn't going to show this, but you forced me ..... Pooh, don't look ... Oh dear, I guess it isn't even alligators, is it?

Spoiler:

How do I put a spoiler around an uploaded image? I could only figure out how to put a spoiler around a pointer to an image -- which means, if I ever remove the image, it'll be a dud pointer.
