Yet the pocketbook-usa site still shows the most current firmware is from 23.11.2009? So is the firmware on that link "official"?

Official public beta.

Official in sense that:
- it was posted by a PocketBook representative
- it is hosted on server belonging to PocketBook Global

Public beta.
This version is supposed to correct a small number of non-critical bugs that were found by people testing previous 15.3 beta.
We all hope this version will be totally without bugs and problems and will be, eventually, made final version.

Before I was testing some non-public betas. Those are beta versions tested internally by programmers or by a small number of users - not general public. Those are not considered to be stable enough to be tested by unsuspecting and uninformed public.

Thanks, I've downloaded this beta, and we'll see how it does on my PB360. I guess it's just my obsessive-compulsive nature to want the _final_ final official release on the unit

Well, PocketBook could have released 14.2 and said that THAT was final final.
Then we would miss some very interesting fetures.

When 15.3 goes "Golden final", I very much hope that I get to test some buggy 16.0 ;-)

What you really want is for PB to open the firmware and have KacirFirmware 16.0 running on it

Apologies for repeating myself, but I'd like to try and make sure someone who might be able to do something sees this. I hope an official Beta-tester will have picked up this problem but I'm logging it here anyway.

Two days ago, in the "Beta Testers wanted" thread, I posted details of a major problem I had with the updated beta version of the new PB360 firmware. I only managed to get a response from one other user confirming the problem, so I have to wonder whether anyone is actually monitoring that thread.

Here is the link to the original post. In a nutshell, the default Theme doesn't work properly when using AdobeViewer for EPUB and other Themes won't let you read the EPUB at all.

I did a quick check with the original Beta version (swupdate_29Oct2010_360_wg_15_3). The problem did not exist there. Basically the updated Beta has introduced new problems.

I'm now back on the supposedly-buggy v15.2, which ironically, has only ever given me minor irritations.

Maybe try going back to the original 15.3b. I've not had a single problem with it. But then again, I don't read anything through Adobeviewer and no EPUBs.

I guess this is my main worry -- that all the beta-testing effort may be going into fbreader. I know I'm in a minority, but I only ever read EPUBs and until fbreader renders CSS correctly (if ever) I won't consider it fit-for-purpose for EPUBs. So AdobeViewer it will have to remain.

I only kept either of the Beta versions on my PB360 for a very short time, but both of them had showstopper problems for me. Couldn't make the dictionary work at all (AdobeViewer and EPUB again) with the older one. That's why I've scurried back to v15.2 with its minor niggles.

@Logseman -- Thank you for another confirmation that I'm not the only one.

Hello mobileread commune,

as i broke my 360 at work for unexpected and mystyrious reason. ;-( ... nearly one year i toke it evrywhere .. and one day at work i switched on and the screen was gone defect, while switching on.. First it showing normal ...and than.. it does not refreshing some areas of the screen..when it was booting up. Ok so far , i send it yesterday to overhaul and two days before i got the new Pockebook 902.

Here my first impressions of it.

I ordered originally a Pocketbook 903 from http://www.my-ebook-reader.eu , but since my 360 was broken down I changed my order to the 902. Main reason was the long ordering time .. and finally i dont need rearly the 3g function and from the 360 i am familier with text input mode..

So when i opened the package i was impressed from the layout of the wrapping. It was really adressed to my favour. But when turned it to backside, i was a little bit shocked, when i read the resolution information 9.7" E-ink Vizplex 800x600, 166 dpi. But no worry it is as discribed at Pocketbook specified 9,7" (24,77 cm) E-ink®, 155 dpi, 1200 х 825 px .

When i hold it in my hands it was a nice feeling, not too havy and the manufacturing of it looks modern and up to date.

After a first connection acc user manual with the deliverd usb cable to load the accu, the pocketbook switched on automaticcally and i started prompt to configure and register it . So it was easy to configure the wlan and afterwards to register it at bookland.

The only problem i had where that icould not use my old account for it, so i just created a new one.

I read before the thread in the german section about dark screen impression of some user. I dont have any compliant to that point.

It looks like expected and expirienced from the 360. So when it was on meanwhile i took my sd card from my 360 and inserted it and opened some epubs and pdf files.

As my feeling i think the adobe looks better with the epubs as with the fbreader. But as i know from the 360 with fbreader 180 it

would reach it nearly with some other advanages more adjustale fonts and page turn at pitching the device. and on.. But that comes later.

The pdf documents where compared to the 5 " device much better .. so now i can read my manuals in convenience way like on book. That was the reason wy bought it.

At the following i will write down some bug or thinks which are not working properbly. But i will not complaint. I´m rearly happy with the device !!!

Some helpfull mentions first of all. An download of recomended firmware update was not possible due to "comming soon" message at the mentioned web page. Sorry this was not helpful, Pocketbook . It would be good to have at least the last one available ... as from expierience, it s not bad to have the originally bin-file as back up, if something will go wrong.

And i miss an conventionally charching device. Could be managable for that price ? Also i didn´t found any specifiations about an charching device. That one from my N97, which have the same plug does not work it shows shortly charching symbol than it goes off. Please give specification at the your web page, Pocketbook.

Following my expiriences with the installed software :
D902.2.0.2 20101116_183052 - i guess it means firmware ver 2.2.02 from 16 Nov. 2010

When selected in Configuration Menue Appearance - Main menu - the Sunny or Sky "view" it will go to Standard "view" when you return to the home screen. It will change to the selected one if turn the book (if selected Auto is selected in Configuration Menu - Appearance- Screen orientation) from horizontal to landscape and back.

The 3 additional Games - apps from Pocketbook.de for the 902 pro will not work if i put it to Games folder (it was working before on my 360 like that ) also all other apps from the 360 will not work .. unfortunally the fbreader180 - latest release here from the forum too ... i rearly miss it.

In application the news app doesn´t work either ... receiving Error message "Not connected to network" altough i get access to bookland or libri with the net-explorer... so network is available via Wifi
by this way bookland page is not very good to browse - it needs change of design may be for mobile view ect...
its a little bit better with the libri one but there is not much selection of ebooks
note : i was not logged into the pages... just as a visitor

In Appearance menue it does not matter what you will select at the Show book as selection - it will only show in detail mode - no

cover at all (in library or home screen - like shown in Pocketbook web page in the home-screen :-)

If selected in Appearance menue - At startup, open - Last open book - will not show last open book , but home screen instead

key mapping to the double click feature off the ON/OFF button will result in "nothing happen" (i remember was same on 360 15.3beta)

I am having exactly the same issues that Airsou mentions on his post, i.e: no thumbnail view, the news app doesn't work, the device doesn't see any apps on system/bin (my main gripe, I'd love to have fbreader180 and a terminal) and yes, the double click on the turn on/off is a hit and miss. You can take a screenshot on an open book but if the fast acces menu is open too, it won't work. Also, is it possible to export the notes to a computer?

I second Airsou's idea of having at least the current firmware available as a download, it'd be helpful if something goes wrong. And it can and it usually does, Murphy's Law and all that. I have already managed to delete the pocketnews.app, it wasn't working so I thought it was something I had downloaded somewhere on the internet...

Also the option to 'open last book' after start-up does not work*, you get just the menu.

*After registration (had to make a new email account for that ) this option works.
