My opposite is in the Atlantic Ocean off the west of northern Africa, actually west of the Canary Islands. I think the closest land is the island of El Hierro, most westerly of the Canary Islands. But about 1000km/621miles west of that. I'll dig, but I'll need to practice my long-distance swimming. Cheers, Marc |

If i go there, I will have to wait for wind and waves to transport me some hundreds of miles westward, in the great expanse of austral Pacific Ocean. It might take months. And it would be the roaring forties. If I arrived there with a raft and some equipment I might make it. But let's just imagine that I reach land. That would be the Chatham Islands, 500 miles east of New Zealand. A very interesting place. I might stay there and have good time.

It's going to be a healthy swim, but if I kick real hard I can make Buenos Aires! Stitchawl |

That's me floundering around in the ocean off of Perth, Australia. Hmmm, why do I keep hearing the music from Jaws?
