Technically it's not a problem of affordability as I'd just get my parents to buy it, but the fact that the iPad doesn't even have a camera doesn't justify its $500 price tag. I am curious, can you tell me exactly what capabilities the NC lacks that I'd want? I am not familiar with its browser and music capabilities. I also thought that the Notion Ink computer would be in the $600+ price range? I am just looking to get a cheap tablet-ish device. My macbook is perfectly fine as of now for the vast majority of my computer needs. Edit: Just researched about the Notion Ink and it will start pre-orders on December 9. The device looks amazing and I'm probably leaning more towards that now. For just a $150 more than the Nook Color it offers so much more! But then again it is not a dedicated e-reader so both devices do have their own advantages... Last edited by ebookrights; 11-24-2010 at 12:11 PM. |

Picture Size
So I transferred some pictures to my nook but for some reason they are tiny when viewing them on the nook. Is this a setting I need to fix? The pictures are just your normal regular picture taken with a digital camera or my cell phone camera.... which is a droid X so it takes large pictures... any ideas?

You might want to start a new thread with this topic for quicker feedback. It's buried here.

Hi All,
I have been using mycolor nook for a couple of days now. It's seems pretty nice, the color is great and the screen is a little larger, also having one b/w if I download a book it shows up on both readers. I was told I could put up to five readers on the same account. Harle |

I am getting a Color Nook for Christmas. I have to admit, I'm hoping for good things like a native email app supporting Google and Yahoo, an app store with free and cheap apps, and possibly hacks down the road. As far as the as-advertised features, I picked the Nook Color over a Kindle because I don't plan to regularly pay $15 for eBooks, but instead use my public library which has ePubs.

Gotta love Barnes & Noble customer service. Thought it might be the cover I ordered with it but that one says shipping within 24 hours.
I guess for B&N, the earlier you order means the later they will bother shipping it... |

Or, do what the last person suggested - just walk into Best Buy and pick one up. I did a search on BB website and there are 3 within an hour's drive of my house (and I live in the middle of nowhere) that have it in-stock. |

Which is what I obviously did this afternoon... a couple of hours after the ridiculous notice. And I contacted them, but sorry, that's the preorder situation?!
As it turns out they were available at the local Best Buy and even the B&N when I went there to get a cover, where the sales rep told me to just not bother with the online service anyway after I mentioned the sad tale, and adding that even they constantly receive conflicting information (until the box(es) arrive at the store)... This does not change anything to the fact that they were going to ship me a PREordered item almost -2 months- later, when people who ordered long after me received theirs already. And the local availability as described above makes it even worse since there is obviously no real shortage. Problems happen when ordering, I deal with it quite a bit, no big deal. But the above is just very notably sub-par service: being incapable of something as basic as shipping out preorders in the order received is just unprofessional, and discourteous to longtime & loyal customers (who tend to be the first in line). One would think that they learned from the original nook's messy launch... Now let's leave it at that, before I live up too much to my title ![]() ![]() B&N got my money, and I got my nook color after all, and it's nice and much more usable for a 1.0 release than the original nook ever was (at least the engineers seem to have learned a lesson or two) |
