I mean, if someone has the wallet to drop $200 to $230 on the reader, it hardly seems like another $25 would be enough to break the bank. Anyway, just a thought...
LOL. I have to agree with this. I just bought a PRS-650 and before I did I was searching for a cheap alternative but then thought to hell with it, I might as well get the $30 cover as well. I figure it goes with the cost of the machine and I wanted to get them both at the same time.

Well, mine was a gift, so I didn't spend $200 on it. However, I'm always looking for a bargain and I liked the way the 600 cover looked on my 600. It only took me about 10 minutes to rework the cover and it feels as solid as the 600 cover did on my 600.

The 650 is a little smaller overall than the 600, but I like how it sits inside the cover with about 8-10 mm extra; it feels more protected.
Be careful with the Gorilla glue, its a moisture cure polyurethane that might not strongly bond to polypropylene or polyester - you might get some extra adhesion by scratching the back of the plastic with sandpaper but PP and PET are notoriously hard for a glue to bond strongly to. I wouldn't want you to be carrying your Sony by the case and the holding clip peels off dropping it to the floor.

If it does fall off another option would be to get some small pop rivets from radio shack, you'd have to drill though the cover but it should look reasonable if you paint the pop rivets black.

Good luck

The new Proporta Leather Cover seems to be available for the 650, but the description on all three websites where I found it says it has green stripes and pockets

Can somebody confirm it's existence as depicted in those images?

I got a padded sleeve/case on Etsy. I got this one:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/61503753...ader-sony-case

I just put in the message that it's for a Sony PRS650 and she made it to the exact dimensions. It fits perfectly. There are lots of different fabrics (all of them quite girly). I also really like the sleeves by a seller named "Rogue Theory" but I wanted one with a velcro enclosure at the top. I have been using a sleeve with no strap at the top for my ipod and sometimes if I pick it up by the wrong corner, the ipod falls out. no bueno.

Very Nice Cases I must say there are many to go through but I think the guys would find something there. The other thing is they would not be difficult to make.

Actually on the Deals board here, someone is selling an ereader cover pattern:

I'm just not the DIY type, not to mention I don't have a sewing machine.

My husband just stopped by Borders today with a 50% off coupon from yesterday's newspaper. He bought me the black lighted cover for $25 ($27 with tax). I just put it together and I can't wait to use it tonight. It is slightly stiff to fold back but I can see it becoming more flexible over time.

Futureshop in Canada has the folding style case for the PRS350 for $19.99 and the case with light for the PRS650 for $34.99.

The ereaders are also discounted- PRS350, $25 off and the PRS650, $30 off.

I have been using the official Sony cover (red) for about 6 weeks and I am very happy with it. It looks very nice, feels very nice and since I only put my readers in my handbag, I think it offers enough protection - it's basically like the cover that came with the 505 and I have never had any issues with that so far. However, if I were to carry the readers in a backpack, for example, I would definitely put them in another container/bag as well, just for the peace of mind.

Wenger Legacy case for $20 @ Best Buy

Was in a Best Buy yesterday and came across the Wenger Legacy E-Reader case for $19.99. Happened to have my Sony Touch 650 with me so I slipped it in the case and liked the fit/feel.

It seems sturdy for drops but not for accidentally sitting on / driving over :-)

All in all I'm very pleased with it. I prefer the side zipper to the top zipper, feels easier to get to the device. And I've always preferred the non-attached case since I tend to read in places where I just want to hold the device alone.

If you're looking for a case it might be a good option. It's listed on my receipt as SKU# 9878834 and the item is not on their website (it's a larger version of the same on their website).

I bought an Oberon cover. It is one of the 600 ones, but fits the 650 very well with the straps. No need for velcro.

I chose the celtic hound design in green.

My Sony 650 is replacing a Kindle, so I tried it out in the Bundle Monster K3 Case for $16 from Amazon, and it sits well, with the corner straps holding on all corners of the 650 and a felt inner lining keeping it from slipping around. It's not completely snug, as with the K3, but that's what I want, so I can easily take it out of the case for home reading, but be able to pop it inside easily for safe storage and for taking to coffee shops and such. It has a nice magnetic clasp, too, instead of zippers or velcro to fiddle with.

I found this cover at amazon. Unfortunately the covers for the new prs-650 are very few aside from the Sony covers. It seems like no one is racing to make covers for the new line of sony readers
