I'm curious about ePub--do you know of any e-book reader out there that supports it at the moment?

Correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but as far as I know, no e-book platform as yet accepts ePub documents directly. If you had an ePub document, you could unzip the XHTML-based components and use them to manually convert the document to a specific e-book format. Hopefully, e-book readers will be able to accomplish that automatically at some point. We're all still waiting to see who will be the first.

So far it seems to be only Digital Editions from Adobe (Windows only) and plug-ins for Firefox which runs on lots of computer platforms including some portable ones. Of course some people do use their computers to read eBooks

You're saying DE and Firefox will open an ePub document and format it onscreen?

Yes, they have display abilities for ePub directly. You need a plugin called Lector that is freely available from Openberg to give firefox this capability. DE has a bunch of sample files available for download from the Adobe site but they are an early version.

Or you could use the epub files generated on Feedbooks.

Yes, I should have mentioned that!! I should also mention the FBReader will read these .epub books as well although it does not support CSS so the formatting will not necessarily be optimum to what the author wrote.
