Very poor formatting. The meatgrinder that is Manybooks is awful. Too bad it wasn't submitted to Feedbooks where it would have come out looking nice. As it is, to get it in good shape is going to take a bit of work.

Have you read the Sookie Stackhouse books? They take place in the south.

My favorite Capote work is Other Voices, Other Rooms -- about as southern gothic as it gets (I listened to
the audiobook) - the movie is terrific, too!

I really enjoyed the first 3 of those...or four. Maybe 5.

Have you read his personal memoir on depression, Darkness Visible? Interesting and honest, if you're interested in that subject or have personal experience with it.

I have read it and, while I found much of it quite fascinating, ultimately I was a bit dissatisfied. I won't say why, lest you look at it through my glasses, and because (a BIG because)...

People who I have much respect for, way more than my own opinions, have stated their love for this book. It's one of those rare books that I personally don't like as much as others but happily recommend to people (I feel similar about Mary Doria Russell's The Sparrow and its sequel). I certainly didn't find it a chore to read. You may, as others, love it.

Cheers,
Marc

Reading #2 in the Sackett Family series; To the Far Blue Mountains by Louis L'Amour.

I read #1, Sackett's Land a couple of days ago. They are good, quick reads.

I found it to be a big book. Not in size, but in detail. It wasn't a book (for me) that could just be read. I had to stop and think about what I read.

In the end I liked it (not loved it).

I too enjoyed Perdido Street Station - it's long and involved - and weird.

ITA ! I read Dead(ish) on the train this morning, and it seemed like my train ride took 5 minutes instead of 45. I really liked it, and will definitely read the sequel

I'm going to start 'Salute the Dark' tonight, the fourth book in the Shadows of the Apt Series by Adrian Tchaikovsky.

That's what I'm going to read next... Stories from the Holocaust... I was born in Denmark in the late '40's, and even though the war had ended it was still very much part of my early life.

I'm currently Reading The Year We Finally Solved Everything
