My biggest adventure in a car dealership
So there I was yesterday afternoon, meeting with a fairly sleazy car salesman
(lets call him...Zoltan) at a very reputable dealership. Quick background: for various reasons, I now own a car with "negative equity". Now, on the phone the previous night, Zoltan promised that he had the perfect "diabolical plan" to alleviate my plight. After a few test drives, we went back inside to discuss the "diabolical plan." Quick disclaimer: I have no proof, other than my word, that the following happened. Plan 1 consisted of him asking if I had "gap insurance", which I do, but I played dumb. Plan 1 then consisted of him suggesting that he facilitate my car "disappearing for good one night" and me getting the gap insurance money. Plan 2 consisted of starting a new auto loan on the spot, and me defaulting on my current loan, leading to the car being repossessed. According to Zoltan, the new loan balanced out the repo, and my credit would not be damaged. Epilogue: The brother of the dealership owner heard the heated exchange between me, Zoltan, and another dealer person...the told his brother about the altercation. The owner contacted me and was quite surprised by the story; he promised to make inquiries. About 2 hours later, Zoltan called to apologize and inform me that he had been fired. Top that...I dare you. Last edited by MJK2111; 11-17-2010 at 04:02 PM. |

My hubby was a used car salesman not too long ago and was fired because he was so honest that nobody would buy cars from him. But then you had the sleazeballs selling 30-40 cars a month. Go figure ![]() |

Crooks may often be very stupid, but I never met one who didn't think that they were the exception.
When I lived in Virginia I worked three buildings away from a new car dealer. Every now and then a used car would disappear. The video system would show a blurry picture of some guy, but not enough detail to identify him. The guy was a real pro. He would hop in a car and start driving in about 5 minutes. This might happen every month or two. The area was very deserted area late at night, and I guess that they couldn't keep a night watchman. So finally they spent some real money and got a very good professional video system. One Monday morning as one of the used car salesmen came in to work the police arrested him. Big deal. That was a story? Remember I said that most crooks think that they are the smart ones? The kicker is that the guy was under the federal witness protection program. You only get there bay ratting out some mob boss. After the sentencing the mob knew exactly where he was going to be for the next few years. a short lifetime. |
