Having problem with a book format

			Hello,

I'm having problems with a book being too wide to fit on the screen of my eReader (Sony 505). The book is Seaborn, and is available as a free download from here: http://www.saltwaterwitch.com/freeseaborn.php The version I am downloading is the html one. Even in Calibre, after converting to EPUB, the text is too wide for Calibre's built in viewer (unless I expand the width a large amount). Is the a problem with the book itself, or is it a setting/issue with Calibre? ![]() Thanks! |

I tried the setting, reconverted the book, but it did not make a difference on the eReader, or in the Calibre viewer. The text is still too wide. |

I have just tried and get the html correctly converted to mobi. You can try html->mobi->epub...

I tried html -> mobi -> epub and sure enough it seems to have worked perfectly. I'll have to remember that trick in the future!

	Thanks! |

 1. <div style="width:650px;"> 2. <div style="width:700px;"> Since this is wider then the PRS-505 and most other ereaders the resultant conversion to epub set a width wider then the screen. In thousands of books this is the first one I ran into like this. Since it is literally 1 in 1000s it may not be worth the effort but is there some way to limit or remove all "too wide" width attributes? This was not a table. It seems like the limits of mobi causes these tags to be ignored or removed in a conversion to mobi. |

It's certainly possible to remove width settings on tags (or at least reduce them to the screen width of the output profile). Open a ticket for it with a sample and I will get to it when I have the time.

Odds are that this is because an online pdftohtml utility was used, I've seen a few that create more accurate output than what Calibre's current pdftohtml can do, but they use a lot of hardcoded divs like these to maintain the original layouts more precisely (unfortunately simultaneously killing reflow)

	Some examples: http://convertpdftohtml.net/ http://www.pdfonline.com/convert-pdf...l/default.aspx |

Yeah I've seen that (actually calibre's pdftohtml can do that as well, it doesn't, because I am interested in reflowing PDFs not making reproducing them in HTML). All those online converters probably use the same pdftohtml from poppler that calibre does.
