OH BTW the strings for english translations are there, it's just that they get truncated in the display, like "smart layou" and "norma" in my settings they show up, but I have default font set to something smaller, like I think I'm using palatino BQ, so I see "smart layout" and "normal" nothing gets truncated anymore. Try smaller fonts, you'll get better results.
Also, I think the reader uses UTF-8 for all character encoding. This makes sense, as it does away with the ISO 8859 charsets. The only problem is that you need an step between ISO 8859 -> UTF-8 to get the document to show up properly, and I don't think duokan is doing this right now. So either convert all of your documents to UTF-8 yourself, or wait for duokan team have the reader convert the charset to UTF-8. No idea how they might do this, but it should be easy to accomplish just by loading it into memory on the fly, or at the very least, by copying the book to memory (/tmp) and converting it there. Anyways it's nice that they are working on english translation bugs, and are working on an uninstall utility. The bug list is rather large that I have come up with, if you want to send it to them go ahead: - Links have incorrect leading and trailing spaces: Also available on Feedbooks forThe Trial(1925) Also available on Feedbooks for The Trial (1925) - Word documents (.doc) are converted EVERY time you open them, do not save place in book if you open them again, have to find place in book manually. - Table of content links in mobi/epub crash the reader or do not work. - Quotations are not attached to words, and end on the ends of lines like this: this is the end of line one " this is the start" of line two - Epubs miss returns/newlines, so text runs together (newline is replaced by space). - Center text on epub has text overlayed on top of it. It should have a newline after it. - Reader does not support the 10 european ISO 8859 charsets, so special characters do not show up. Workaround is needed, possible conversion to UTF-8? - Using dictionary definition, pressing Next page causes system crash and reboot with some definitions. Feature Request: Font for SYSTEM/MENU + Font SIZE for system + menu will prevent truncation of text and make menu formatting stay clear for translations Source files: The Metamorphasis MOBI Sherlock Holmes Omnibus EPUB Last edited by curstpriest; 11-14-2010 at 10:41 AM. |

[QUOTE=curstpriest;1215831] Thanks for the bugs list. I cannot reproduce your problem with table of contents. Mine works perfectly. Also, my dictionary page turns works perfectly. It is different from Kindle, in that, after moving cursor to a word, and dictionary pops up, you then push "enter". After that, pages turn work fine. |

Taken the liberty to make some links to your entry in the following pages: ( I will of course remove them if you feel uncomfortable or what ever ) It is just some suggestion. Just add some links or post entries you think is important or nice to have. Maybe we will get someone to start a Wiki ? The bug-list at Duokan Bugs may be a sort of template for how it is entered at the Duokan site. ( yes, I know - it is painstaking .. and maybe just some of my silly ideas, but ..if we can prepare something, it will be easier to have someone file it. I suppose a Wiki page would be good, as then it is possible to edit it by others. ) And at the other thread: Duokan Bugs Discuss We could upload some reports ( probably google translated ) we pull from the site ? My idea may not be that good, but I had this idea that we may supply this system with native languages, so the Italian or German grandmother may have some Xmas gift too, one day ![]() Last edited by FethryDuck; 11-14-2010 at 03:25 PM. |

I could not reproduce on my Kindle 2i some of the bugs Curstpriest listed, for example. And I know from NiLuJe, that a couple of problems that I had involved the interaction between font hacks and Duokan (he told me to rename a file, and all was good). What I am saying is that we cannot communicate with Duokan folks very much, and we don't want to just send them lists of complaints, you know what I mean? |

shrug, i don't have any hacks and just dxg =T
and actually there isn't much difference between versions, just different layout headers/footers and a few other things, the core program is still pretty much the same |

@montalex #248 - good thinking, or it reflects a few of my own
![]() @curstpriest - I am no code expert, what is "dxg =T" ? guess I have to bow too. They have been running it for quite some time, and *our* bugs, or what I had in mind, is more the cosmetic ones. However, of course bugs exist or may appear. |

Languages:
Just like I made my own *special english edition*, I may make a Norwegian, German, Italian, or what ever. I don't master more then English, Norwegian - I suppose. I am not sure if Duokan ever thought of making native language versions, while - as I said - it would be nice if kids and grandmothers or any other could use these devices as well. Have created the following page: DK system languages ( I don't know why it was so difficult to enter the table, but hoped people may add their own language settings. If I can work out this wiki-page thing, then perhaps it will be easier to edit or change things. ) oh, as I have not been in contact with Duokan - don't have a contact person there yet, I have to enter this with reservation. ( I will add some note about it on that page ) I will try to upload a file with the Norwegian Menu-settings, and hope others may support the idea. Last edited by FethryDuck; 11-16-2010 at 08:44 AM. |

![]() ![]() I would ![]() Bay Area - hmm... logged in on a library there and found out they are connected to the Northern California Digital Library - so you may borrow some books there with a DXG, I suppose. Have you tried it ? Last edited by FethryDuck; 11-16-2010 at 10:57 AM. |
