I simply don't fly. I've flown this april, and why I do like flying itself, I don't like the security checks. I'll take my car. And DG, what about those people that take the train? Or bus? Or even take a car on a busy highway. All places where people gather and where you can do a lot of damage without anybody ever looking at you beforehand... |

Bah! I'll really rather strip naked than let myself be gropped or x-rayed, really. I read somewhere that now they be touching your "private parts". Dude! I'm not a prude but I really don't like the gropping... and I'm a man! >_>

I am well aware of the attacks in other parts of the world, where there is a large population concentrated. We do not have the rapid transit system Europe and other countries do.........unfortunately. We used to.....but planes changed that.

I promise I'll let you all know in advance when I fly and from where It also won't stop people trying to blow up the terminal building and all in it, as per the attempt in Glasgow a few years back.

The question to ask is this: who benefits most from having these new scanners in all airports? The answer is simple: the corporation that produces these scanners. Does anybody seriously believe for a second it is about security? It is about making lots of easy money. So, don't expect this policy to change anytime soon. |

I dont think that there is anyway to be 100% sure, as recent events have shown. Quote:
Sure, companies made money off of the sale of the devices but those devices arouse because of the need, not the other way around, unless you think that the scanner manufacturers are involved in international terrorism.

9/11 style attacks became obsolete three-quarters of the way into the 9/11 attack. Before that day, the cultural understanding was that the best bet with a hijacking of a plane was to stay calm and let the hijackers make their demands-- whether they be for money or to be taken to a certain location or whatever. That cultural understanding changed while the 4th plane was still in the air when the passengers learned what happened to the other planes-- the new standard became "stop them at all costs." There will be no more people taking over planes with box cutters. The next successful attack will come from some other method-- and the fear-mongers will make sure even more civil liberties are taken from us to try to prevent that method from working again.

Then, perhaps, you also believe that the wars US started in the last 20 years are about security and establishing democracy in those countries? It must have been an accident that US never tried to "establish democracy" in a country that does not have significant oil reserves. But then again, every one of us has a freedom of choosing what to believe.
