How to add fonts on PPC?

Dumb question (I hope) but I can't figure out how to add more fonts to iSilo for PocketPC. Who can help me?

Here's an area where windows mobile excels!

Just copy the windows font file (ie, TIME.TTF from the \windows\font directory) to the \windows\fonts directory on the PPC. It will then be available to any application that lets you select the font (including pocket word, excel, etc). In isilo, just go to setup and on the font tab select the new font. Craig. |

That is sweet! Now if only my resolution was a little higher! But that'll have to wait another year or two for me...

Resolution you want? Take a look at the iPAQ hx4705. 480x640. CRYSTAL clear! eBooks are clearer & more leqible than printed books!

Just to make sure you know how to GET RID of your custom fonts again... once you add them to your windows/fonts dir and reset your PDA, you won't be able to simply delete them again.

Instead, I found this method for deleting fonts to work very well: 1. reset your device (afterwards don't open any unnecessary applications) 2. start Pocket explorer and rename the extension (.ttf) your custom fonts in /windows/fonts to something else like .old 3. reset your device again 4. now start Pocket explorer and delete your fonts. |

Why can't you simply delete them again? Does it cause registry problems? This would be in the category of "uh oh" because that's what I just did on my PPC this am! Thks. |

Thanks for the tip, Alex. I hadn't tried to delete any fonts yet, so I wasn't aware of the "limitation". I guess the OS somehow keeps the font file open or in use after resetting it so you can't delete it.

Oh, it's just a locking thing and you either can or can't delete the fonts? I did find my font files locked also when I tried to delete the first time. But when I closed eReader I was then able to delete.

	So... I'm okay then??? |

I'd say you're fine, Bob. Just one of Windows Mobile's little idiosyncracies....

Yes it is about the locking issue. If you were able to delete the font directly, Bob, you are fine. Sometimes it happens though that open handles to fonts are not closed properly, and then the fonts remain locked. The trick with renaming the font extension would always work in that case
