Don't overthink this story - there's a lot of references to MR members and anecdotes about them - you don't have to have ever known they exist to solve the mystery. Treat this like an Agatha Christie mystery - lots of wacko characters that try to draw your attention away from the actual clues.

When you have a story with multiple versions of the same murder, what/who stays the same in all of them? Who can you rule out?
No idea, but I gave up and just let the dice chose for me

Which stays the same...
Let'see ..
Jeeves is one person every five minutes - ruled out
Pshrynk 'pseudo' murderer is one person every five minutes - ruled out
Murder's weapon is a new one every five minutes - ruled out

Zelda killed him.

I did manage to elect a few people who are more suspect than the others, but still, I can't point one that is definetely guilty.

No ... just trying to help without being too obvious. And I hope you all are still having fun with it.

I do remember when I was trying to solve the last mystery contest - I just couldn't see what the author thought was so obvious as a clue. And got tangled up with trying to learn/understand all the "insider" jokes. Which were just there to be humorous. Heck - I even made charts with clues - didn't help me. All I should have done was carefully read the story and notice the clue(s) the author provided.

So I really do understand what you've been expressing here. And I'll continue trying to provide meaningful hints.

Sleuth on!

Having fun is what keeps us going on. Although I must confess my brains are overheating from time to time with this mystery.
