I have the cheapest Nokia I could find on my plan. My cell phone makes calls. It can in theory make text messages but I'll strangle you with your own shoelaces if you try to send me one. Given what text messages cost to send vs. what they charge you, I refuse to participate.

Hi. I'm Angst and I don't even own a cell phone. My employer gave me one of those "berry" things, but I've only figured out how to make telephone calls on it. I don't even know how to work the other stuff. I've never sent a text message in my life. I hate Instant Messaging. Worst of all, there are so many ALT-this and CTRL-that functions on the damn thing that I am always accidentally enabling some "feature" with no idea how to turn the feature off. And the instructions are worse than my video recorder.

Anyway, thanks for listening.

Sorry... a crack berry, er... blackberry IS a cell phone... a smart phone at that. I don't think not know how to use it is going to qualify you here. Well have to wait for DG's official ruling.

I totally relate to the "not knowing what the heck to do with it even when its on".....and he was given the phone by the boss.

Everytime I hold my daughter's phone I'm afraid its going to yell "Aaack!!! A dummy is holding me!! AAcck!!"

I added my grandma to my plan, gave her a smart (ish) phone, and taught her to text. She's 85 years old, and doing pretty good, I would say!

Mostly I taught her because since my family plan has 3 big texters, I have an unlimited texting plan, so it's a lot cheaper than calling all the time. And easier on me when I'm at work and gramma wants to chat about the weather.

Hi, I'm desertblues and the owner of a Blackberry, whose functions I dont use at all. Almost nobody has my number, except for Vodafone.

I would like a non-rechargable, non-backlighted telephone about the size of a Kindle......so I would never forget to charge it or leave it somewhere.
I only turn it on when I want to telephone; g.e. if I'm stuck somewhere. I do text once in a while, if I remember how.
If someone phones me: by the time I realize it's actually my phone that's making that infernal noise........too late....
I do have a voicemail: made my daughter operate it to say: " I don't usually, ever, listen to voicemail, see you'.
