no........I give Karma for a lot of reasons, but that isn't one of them.

Right now I'm giving Karma to you because the little voices in my head are telling me to.....

no, no.........its not something you should be doing.

Its something you feel you need to do when you read a post that especially moves you to.

What a strange idea! I've never done it, but I'm not very numbers-oriented.

I have sometimes handed out karma to new members, just to be encouraging.

That doesn't seem like the same thing at all, though.

That's not what I mean - I'm not using the word "should" indicating an obligation. What happens is I get so involved in what I'm reading that I don't even think about karma until later, and then when I think "Oh, yeah, that post deserved karma", I can't always find the post I want to give it for.

Difficult....is a karma worthy post one that is posted by someone who has a symmetrical or palindromic number of karma points?

I use the karma button sparingly, but tend to give it to posts I find interesting and valuable -- whether I agree with the point being made is not a consideration. Also, I tend to spread a little karma in thanks to those generous members who upload our beautifully presented free classics, so often the unsung heroes of MobileRead. Cheers. Neil

Thanks for reminding me: have to give some to the posters of ' Add/read a good joke to lighten your day' . I read half of the jokes yesterday and laughed my head off.
