![]() Makes me feel sorry for those who haven't heard it. "Western" music is kinda like Austin City Limits was when it first started. |

You can download the video to your PC and then extract the MP3 from it.

You can always use a proxy in the desired country. Google is your friend.

Not sure how to vote. I almost never buy music, but so far all my paying downloads have been though iTunes, because it's just practical (I use a Mac and an iPod Touch). I also download free samples under a CC license, and sometimes songs, from ccMixter.org. I use those mostly to add music to my videos though, so maybe it doesn't count.

I feel sorry for the woman who was fined $1.5 million for sharing 24 songs. She could have settled several years ago for a few thousand.

I will not pay for mp3 files. I may buy online if I can get flac files but they hard to find.
My main source for online music is usenet with the occasional excursion into BitTorrent. I just treat the internet as the world's largest juke box. On the other hand my CD collection is up to about 950 discs and still growing. I've ripped all my discs to flac images and then made VBR mp3 for portable use. There is an audible difference between uncompressed CD audio and mp3 even at 320kb. If you connect an mp3 player to a good stereo and compare with the original source the difference is notable. Mp3 rips are good enough but not as good as uncompressed audio. |

Maybe I should add that I haven't bought music of any sort since before digital music became a mainstream thing. I may be considered weird now... ![]() Now I'm not even making sense to myself. ![]() |

My taste is music is a bit wide ranging and some would say, strange.
So far I've only found one record/CD where I liked every song on it. Until I could download the songs that I liked, I just didn't buy any music for decades. And if they had DRM in them I still wouldn't. |

I mostly listen to classic rock and electronic dance music.
Being middle aged, I pretty much accumulated every classic rock song/album on cd that I liked before mp3s even existed. Barring cd rot, I'm probably all set there. Though once in a while I will get something from Amazon that I missed. (I actually did get one song back in the DRM music days, a WMA file from Walmart. Journey of the Sorcerer by the Eagles (song used in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). It's nice though that cd is where it's stopped. Instead of record, 8-track, casette tape, cd, new thing (like VHS, DVD, Blu Ray). And for electronic dance music, many DJs make their radio shows available for free to download, either on their own site or itunes. So I just get that. Just a few shows is really more new music than I can listen to in a week. For example: http://suzysolar.com/suzysolar/category/tracklists/ |

I will be definitely in the minority here, but I download all of my music from Zune Marketplace with my Zune Pass. It is one heck of a deal. For $14.95 you get 10 songs to keep forever at one dollar each. Then for the other $4.95 you get access to the full music library for which you can download just about any song to play on your portable music player or computer as long as you keep your monthly membership up to date. And yes I do own a Zune 80 gig player. Great unit.

Mainly via Amazon now because I can buy the songs that I like at a reasonable price. Every now and then I'll get something from iTunes.
I buy some hard-to-find classical music on CD from Arkiv Music. http://www.arkivmusic.com/classical/main.jsp I'll check out the P2P nets if I'm looking for something that's out-of-print to see if it exists anywhere, but not very often. I've got a Squeezebox radio, XM at home and in the car, plus my CD/LP collection, so I've got more than enough music to listen to already. ![]() |
