If not, I keep earning points, but I continue to grow impatient!

I think the Sony website is pretty terrible. I keep going on and dangling before my eyes is a reader with a backlit screen. If I click on this thinking 'stupidly' it'll take me to the appropriate shop to buy one, I end up on the Google search page!!!! Don't get it, also the links generally don't appear to work. So given up on that one. Bah!

Later today I'm going to take a mini road trip w/ my friend to the Sony Style Store in Tampa. I've been mulling over this for a few weeks now because the store is a hundred miles away.

I mainly want to check out the 650 and decide if I should just get that or the 350.

Good idea -- you really should see the difference first as it's a truly subjective experience. I went to my local Sony Store before ordering my 650 online (no shipping, no tax).

So I went to the sony store, and the trip was so worth it.

I decided on the black 650 w/ a red cover w/ a light.

I was thinking about a red one, but the one I was looking at had a deformity; where once you change the page you see a shadow of the text from the last page. So it scared me away from it.

I even used my student discount so I'm happy about that.

Congrats, Envy! I went into the store thinking I would get a 350, and came out with a 650 as well. I think it's the perfect size!

That's the combination that I want to get! That's great that you got a discount. Did you order it online or pick it up at the store?

It's not a deformity and you will find that your black one will do it too. It is ghosting and it happens on all e-ink screens occasionally - the previous page leaves ghosting on the screen, but it disappears after a couple of page turns. It has nothing to do with the colour of the outside of the reader.

@ Wendy, I totally understand that. I was just saying that because of the issues I experienced that particular reader. It became embedded in my mind to associate Red w/ trouble.

As for the "ghosting", it didn't go away, it was on every page.

anybody know if the charger unit for the prs-500 will work with the prs 650..... they are sending me a red prs-650 woooooooooooo hoooo

I called sony and the gal said it would be compatible, but I read a review somewhere that the prs 600 wasn't compatible with the 650 charger so i am ???????? I don't want to charge via the computer and usb if I need to, yet can't complain if they are giving me a new reader........ looking for jackets now too and see there are not many choices right now.

Okay checked the specs on the chargers now and then.. the only difference between mine then is the output is 2000 ma instead of the new which is 1500 ma... everything else is exactly the same, unless of course the plug has a difference................

Sorry April... 505 uses barrel connector plug but 650 doesn't, it uses micro-USB...
