It's lightweight, well-designed and not bulky at all. Go look at M-Edge if you want to see bulk, or Oberon for extra weight. (I know, I've used them)

The canvas covers selling for $85 would be more in line with "expensive."
I agree; Amazon gives good value for your money.
My first cover was a red Amazon (no lights). And what I really like about that cover, is the way the elastic fits in the ' groove' ; with its stitched sides. Very nicely made.

Though I love my Oberoncover (red wild roses), I do miss that groove a bit.

How much? In my case it was less than $20. A synthetic leather case for $13 and a Kandle for $5.

My mom has the lighted amazon case, and it is very nice, but I can replace this case more than three times for the cost of the amazon case. It just doesn't seem to make sense to me to spend 43% of the purchase price of the device on a case for it.

Also less than $20: $15 inc. shipping&handling for the cover, less than $5 for a booklight at Walmart.

Think it works better to clip the light to -bottom- of the case; seems to have more even coverage and it never shines in my eyes.

I have the case with the built in light. It's just too convenient to do without, if you want a light.

The case does add some heft to the Kindle. When I'm reading in well lit conditions, I unclip the Kindle. At night, I'm usually on a couch or in bed where I can rest the device on a pillow so the added weight isn't a big deal.

I agree that it's expensive but...

1. It's REAL leather (not the fo-leather that my Sony 505 had)
2. The one with the light was the same price as the non-lit cover and an external light (which I'd have to change batteries all the time).
3. I agree that it does bulk it up BUT without the cover it felt too thin and breakable.
