Y'all read too fast. I would quote the relevant post, but it's like six pages back by now. Anyway, I'm reading Soulless, and whoever said it was like Amelia Peabody with steampunk, you were dead on. Hilarious! Loving every page, problem is, classes started again, more hours at work because it's November (Thanksgiving in the US and everyone seems intent on buying our shelves bare at the store). So I'm only getting to read before bed, and I've been so tired, I'm only getting four or five pages a night read.

![]() ![]() I kept thinking, ok, I need to quote this line on MR. Oh shoot! I can't! I'd have to bleep it! I thought it was hysterical, and witty, and fun. I thought the movement from voice-to-voice was very effective, btw, and easy to follow. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

I liked it, too, and found it was exactly what I was looking for that day! I haven't ordered the next one yet, but I plan to.

I'm glad you enjoyed it (in case the woohoo didn't communicate that). Did you know there's a sequel? *points discretely at signature*

Of course I promised FlorenceArt I'd start Ulysses after I finished Dead(ish). I'm not sure, but there might be a slight change of pace involved...

Finished Still Life with Crows by Preston and Child last night, the fourth book in the Pendergast series. As others have said earlier in this thread it isn't as good as the previous ones. It isn't bad, but it just didn't read as fast as the other three.

I started Fall of Giants by Ken Follett. I have the pbook of Pillars of the Earth lying around somewhere but I wasn't able to finish it. But I'm in the mood for something long, although I was a bit daunted by the long list of characters at the beginning of the novel. |

Reading this week's issue of Science News. There's a nice image making a comparison between the relative sizes of giraffes and pterosaurs.

I was intending to do a quick scan through Connie Willis' Blackout to refresh my memory for All Clear but I got sucked into a full re-read.

I'm finishing up Why You Play, about the Faith Christian Football Team, such an incredible book...I'm actually not religious, but the lessons that can be learned in this book reach far beyond that, it's about family, and teamwork, and pushing yourself to the limit to be the best you can be, not for yourself, but for those around you.
