It's been a crazy week, with a ton of stuff going on in my "real" life (well, my kids' real lives), so my reading has taken a hit! I just finished our very own Steven Lyle Jordan's "Verdant Skies." I really enjoyed it! (review here) |

Why has it taken me so long to read Ulysses - I'm in shock - I may not fully understand the story line, nor the narrative style, but the word-craftmanship is amazing. There is a rhythm within each sentence, within each paragraph, on each page. Delightful.

I love four-day-weekends !! In just two days I've been able to finish Dragonfly Falling, the second book in the Shadows of the Apt Series by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I've also reread Life of Pi (again), one of my favourite books After I've cooked dinner, I'm going to start Memoirs of a Master Forger. It's about a book-forger who can see demons. Should be interesting, I'm looking forward to it ! |

For a change of pace, I'm reading "The Loo Sanction" by Trevanian - a lot of similarities to Ian Fleming's style - but more humor, plot twists, cynicism - very enjoyable read. Lots of punning on character and place names (one nightclub situated below street level is the Cellar D'Or).

I'm reading Karen Cantwell's Chronicles of Marr-nia. It's short stories, which, for me, will always be a lesser cousin compared to a novel, but Chronicles is based on Barbara Marr, the same character who stars in "Take the Monkeys and Run" which was darn good read.

OKAY!! OKAY!! I just put it onto my Kindle and read the first couple of pages. Not at all what I expected, although I really hadn't formed any expectations. I need to read Dead(ish) first, to catch up with everybody, then I'm going to give Ulysses a whirl. |
