Of course, that was a few hours ago, and my sister is at least sending the necessary documentation over by email straight away. [Marc spends several hours checking email waiting for necessary attachments to come through. Still checking...]

Finally finished doing Mum's tax return. She gets a very small bill from them this year...smaller than she has in most any year since Dad died...which theoretically means she will credit me with being responsible for the small amount, in the same way she blamed me for the 2005 and 2006 bills she got from the tax returns I did those years.

Yeah, that'll happen.

(Mother is convinced that she pays more tax since the Labor Party got in, and was better off under the previous Coalition government. Even when you tell her that every tax return - all of which we have done, so we know - shows she has paid less tax and received much smaller bills under the Labor government, she insists that "that's not right. I definitely pay more".).

You need to take a leaf from the Windows 7 ads and just claim it was your idea and your creation anyway - I'm sure Alex et al won't mind

What are they stealing taking credit for this time? We don't have TV again...er, still. Intentionally, that is.

Also, the following just occurred to me for no apparent reason: Do American companies just show the original American TV ads over there?

Not so much as a bunch of "ordinary people" saying that they wanted such-and-such, Windows 7 has it, so Windows 7 was their idea.

Not that I'm aware of, no (*) - for example the Mac vs PC adverts were reshot using British comedians - something which backfired a little due to the nature of characters those two comedians played on a popular comedy. Bizarrely, the Barclaycard commercials have an English voiceover, but it is clearly over the original American advert.

(* I watch (**) less than an hour of TV a day on average, so my exposure is rather limited)

(** and pay attention to even less)

Television is bad enough. Watching the commercials will turn anyone into a drooling idiot.
