Just finished Rain Fall by Barry Eisler and it was an excellent and very interesting read. Recommended to me by lilac_jive who NEVER gets it wrong.

Now about 60 pages into Lee Child's latest (Worth Dying For) and , so far, it is very good

I got mine from fictionwise during a sale, but unless/until fictionwise has a good sale, the best place to get them is currently webscription.net where they're $6 each.

Good so far...
And indeed, an excellent fantasy novel. I suspect that I'll appreciate The Colour of Magic a little bit more next time I read it too!

With this weekend's 50% sale on at Fictionwise (coupon: spooky2010), that's the best place to get the series just now.

I'll come back to the series after a few different books.

Now for The Disinherited by Steve White. I accidentally started reading the third book (Debt of Ages), but I think I'd rather go back and catch up from the beginning.

Gave up on Sandman Slim, it's not awful but not good enough to hold my attention, and I am in a snobbish reading phase right now (hence Ulysses). I have a growing to-read list, but I'm reluctant to start anything heavy while I'm still reading Ulysses, and on the other hand I'm not in the mood for mind candy. Following a thread by KennyC about short stories, I remembered Maupassant and downloaded a bunch of his books, so I'll read those whenever I need a break from Joyce I guess. Unless I start reading The Finkler Question, which I just bought from Kobo. And there's also What the Buddha Taught, which I also bought some time ago and haven't started yet.

I think I'm starting to feel slightly anxious

Now you'll give me a big head

Just finished "Warrior" by Zoe Archer. Not too shabby, I really liked her choice of a non-traditional location and culture (Mongolia).

Now I think I'll start "Leave Me Alone, I'm Reading" by Maureen Corrigan, which I picked up at the library.

Finished Captain Blood yesterday-- really enjoyed it, btw. Proper review to come soon-- and started Miss Mackenzie by Anthony Trollope. I'm really liking this as well; the snarky, clever language is a lot of fun, and the characters are so silly it's impossible not to enjoy reading it.

In paper books I'm reading The Tapestry Shop (almost done) and Djibouti (although I haven't actually read a page since last Thursday). The Tapestry Shop is a historical fiction book, and it's about the guy who wrote the first Robin Hood story. It's got some romance and some action, but mostly it's atmospheric. Sort of like soaking yourself in a warm bath. Except the water is 13th century France. (Not available as an ebook, unfortunately).

I finished Bradbury's Death Is A Lonely Business. It's not as good as A Graveyard for Lunatics. The fictionalized young Bradbury can be annoying sometimes.

I'm interrupting the Bradbury read for Connie Willis' All Clear, the conclusion to Blackout, which was released earlier in the year. Blackout was one of my favorite books this year, so I'm looking forward to it. For those unfamiliar with the book, it takes place in Willis' near-future world of time traveling Oxford historians that was introduced in Fire Watch and continued in The Doomsday Book and To Say Nothing of the Dog. This time, like Fire Watch, they are in England during the Blitz.

The novelette Fire Watch can be read here for free:

You can watch a 2007 interview of Willis by librarian Nancy Pearl (Book Lust) here:
