It is a valid university card that counts.
Nürnberg: No, it means that you can only directly order from PocketBook (info@pocketbook.de), not from a reseller. Maybe some reseller will give you the student rebate, as well, but right now it's only direct order.

There will be a neoprene cover coming with the device. Pocketgoods is offering a leather cover already.

This is going to be just me ranting, so it can be ignored.

Since I have 3 more weeks of waiting for the 903 to be delivered, I was looking around for more information to pass the time. So I went to see what was on the wiki, and all I can say is that there isn't much. The PocketBook page hasn't been updated since April, so there is no mention of the new models. If you go looking for the new models, only 902 has a page, where the 903 model is mentioned.
Back to the main PocketBook page, there is a link to what I am assuming is the official website. It is of course in Ukrainian, but no need to worry, there is a nice flag on the bottom right corner, and if you press it, you get language options. I went with USA: English, and there it was, the word that I was looking for: PRODUCTS. If you move the cursor over it you get the list of products, with a nice thumbnail, and this list contained ... wait for it ... the 360 model and the 302 model. Having a feeling that I just stepped into the twilight zone (I liked that TV show), where there were no new models outside the forum, I looked at the other languages. And finally there they were (only on the Ukrainian page, which was the last one I checked) all the PB models.

END of rant.

There is one question I would like to ask, if anybody actually read the nonsense: what is the dpi value of the screen? On the pocketgoods.de site the value is 166 dpi, on pocketbook.ua the value is 150 dpi.

Also, I'm not saying that the people from PB should waste their time right now with this, as I am more than happy with the fact that they are working hard to give us the devices as fast as possible. Ranting is just fun.

I've preordered PB903 but today I saw the following on official PB site

http://www.pocketbook.ua/news/press/81

the most unpleasant part of this otherwise pleasant news is:
"Первыми с конвейера завода компании Foxconn вышли модели Pro 602 Pro 902 и IQ. Остальные модели будут отгружены в начале декабря."
Which in free translation means that while the first models Pro 602,902 and IQ will hit the market in time, the rest of the line (obviously 603 and 903) are scheduled for the beginning of December.

That is really frustrating. I'd already expected to miss out on any student rebate, as well as get the device weeks late (it's my birthday present, and that's tomorrow), now it's delayed a month without notice? Give me a break!

Hi Guys,

I have a question that has been asked before but got no asnwer, plus a couple more:

1) on notetaking (asked before): with the Pocketbook 903, would one be able to scribble notes at the margins of a pdf with the stylus (as one would with a real pen on real paper)?

2) on discounts: are there discounts for academics (I mean faculty, not students)?

3) on language: if preordering from the German site (I live in the UK), will the PB903 come with English language interface?

4) on browsing: this might have been asked before, but I did not see the reply: does the PB903 come with a browser, or can you only connect to specific sites for ebook downloading?

5) on battery life: suppose I use it continuously with no internet conenctivity, but only for reading and annotating: how long do the 7,000 advertised page turns are going to last (in hours or, hopefully, days)? Does switching between documents eat up battery life?

Ok, 5 qeustions, but it is a substantial amount of money!

Welcome Paola!

As I understood the power consumption switching between documents = screen refresh = page turn. Annotations shouldn't consume too much energy since they only change a few pixels. I don't think that anyone can tell how long the battery can last. For example if you are flipping through a textbook to find a paragraph that you know should be next to a certain figure, or go to the next chapter by turning pages, you are going to consume power much faster.
If you are flipping through a book at 1 page turn / second: battery=7000s=<2h
If you spend on average 1minute / page: battery=7000 minutes=117h=4.8 days
If you are planning to sleep, and you reduce the time/day to 8h battery=14.6 days
The time will be reduced by changing the orientation of the page, the font size, zooming, all of which consume energy.
Also you probably wouldn't let your battery go lower than 5% (the more paranoid of us probably wouldn't let it go below 30%).
