Book Description
The GRE is changing in August 2011!What can you expect from the GRE revised General Test? Should you take the test now or wait? These questions and more are answered in this introduction to the new exam.In the most sweeping changes to the test in its history, every aspect of the GRE General Test will change in 2011:Longer test: With more sections and questions focused on reasoning and critical thinking, the test will now be longer than the current GRE.New scoring rubric: With a 130-170 score scale in 1-point increments (vs. 200-800 in 10-point increments on the current GRE), it will be more challenging to differentiate your score from the competition.New test experience: The Multi-Stage Test format, a new form of computer-based functionality, will allow users to move back and forth within a specific subject. New and different question types: Every section will have new question types. In: More reading comprehension and data analysis questions; Out: Antonyms and analogies. What does all of this mean for you and your graduate school aspirations? Kaplan will walk you through the changes and help you make decisions that will enable you to become a strong graduate school applicant when the time is right.

Jon, I disagree with that. I figure people are either following this thread by email notification, or are reading the thread through for the first time. Either way, when you get to a note about "XYZ is free", you click on it then and there. So "no longer free" works best in the original note. Adding a new post, to notify us by mail that XYZ isn't free anymore seems wrong. If I am studiously following email, I already got the freebie, and the new post just annoys me. If I am a few emails behind, I want to know *when I reach the first note* that it's not free any more.

No? How are you using this thread?

Oh. For the "not any longer" posts too? I myself requested the "now free" things be added as new posts.

Whatever! I'm very grateful for the work koland, arcadata and other put in.

Second!

But I must say when I first found this thread I was mildly disappointed when I realized most of the initial links I clicked on weren't free anymore. Can't remember - is there a disclaimer in the first post to that effect?

Thank you folks for all the finds you come across. I try to click... real quick!

I figure that a book is no longer free when I follow the link and I would be charged if I buy it (winks)

just kind of general knowledge that following the free books is a full contact sport. expect to take some hits, come off the field dirty and know that you have given it your best when pursuing the ever elusive free book!

I agree. It doesn't help me if there is a note 10 posts later that the book is no longer free, I've already clicked on it by then. Having it right there in the original post saves me wasting the time.

Spinning Forward by Terri DuLong

Product Description
Quote:
In a debut novel brimming with warmth and wit, Terri DuLong spins a tale of new beginnings, old friends, and lives forever bound. . .

A New Englander born and bred, the last place Sydney Webster expects to find herself starting over is on an island off the coast of Florida. Yet here she is in Cedar Key, trying to pull herself together after her husband's untimely death--and the even more untimely revelation of his gambling addiction. Bereft of her comfortable suburban life, Syd takes shelter at a college pal's bed and breakfast, where amidst the bougainvillea blossoms and the island's gentle rhythms, a plan begins to form. . .

Syd never considered the possibility of turning her passion for spinning and knitting into something more than a hobby, but when the unique composition of her wool draws attention, a door is opened--the first among many. Yet even as she ventures out of her comfort zone, Syd finds herself stepping into the embrace of a community rich with love, laughter, friendship...and secrets. And as long-hidden truths are revealed, Syd faces a choice: spin a safety net--or spin decidedly forward and never look back...
Half Past Dead by Zoe Archer and Bianca D' Arc

Product Description
Quote:
There are good guys, there are bad boys, and then there are men with a danger all their own--these are the ones who take you places you never imagined. . .and will never forget.

The Undying Heart by Zoe Archer

Samuel Reed had no idea magic existed, until it almost destroyed him. Thirsting for vengeance against the enemy who made him something less than human, Sam returns to England and crosses paths with Cassandra Fielding. His best friend's little sister has become a fearless woman on a dangerous mission of her own. And against all odds, she sees past what he's become, and stirs a desire he thought he'd lost forever. . .

Simon Says by Bianca D'Arc

Special Forces soldier Simon Blackwell ended his affair with Mariana Daniels three years ago, but he hasn't stopped protecting her. Mariana has no knowledge of the dark, deadly creatures that lurk in the forest surrounding her clinic, or of the mysterious powers that make Simon the only one who can defeat them. But soon he'll have no choice but to reveal the truth, and urge her to trust in an explosive passion that never faded. . .
Dancing In The Lowcountry by James Villas

Product Description
Quote:
From award-winning author James Villas comes a warm, witty, and poignant story of passion, friendship, and family set against the lush, mellow backdrop of the South Carolina Lowcountry.

Ella Dubose is a Southern lady of a certain age--an age at which memories of youth can rush in at every turn and overwhelm the present. But while Ella's two younger children are concerned for her health and want to limit her independence, Ella--elegant, unconventional, and unrepentantly willful--has very different ideas. And she's not about to be controlled by anyone, not when there are tasks she needs to complete and loose ends that must be tied.

The first step is to leave her family and take a road trip back to the places where key chapters of her life unfolded. Myrtle Beach has been overrun by theme restaurants and ocean-front condos, but the Priscilla is still the charming, shingled inn Ella remembers from visits long ago. At the Priscilla, Ella and her companion, Goldie, sip cocktails on the porch and dine on she-crab soup and fried oysters while awaiting the arrival of Ella's oldest son, Tyler, now a successful writer in New York. And there, too, Ella meets a dashing, attentive gentleman who will help her finally face her ghosts and determine which of the secrets she has carried for so long must be shared, and which are better left untold.

With its unforgettable and instantly loveable heroine and evocative portrayal of Southern life--past and present--Dancing in the Lowcountry is a beguiling, beautifully rendered novel about the places and people that stay with us, the courage it takes to live in the present, and the endless ways life can surprise us, over and over again.

I agree with you 100%. The best way to handle it is editing the old posts. If you already grabbed the book there is really no need for you to care and if you are viewing the thread a few days late, it is nice to know it right there and then and not have to match posts later saying it has expired, as by then you would have already clicked through to check for yourself.

Not an ebook, but wanted to make sure everyone caught this deal on the Kindle Kandle reading light while it is on - They are 2 for $10 (and $5 each after the first two, if on the same order) if you use the coupon code KANDLELT during checkout. You can order the original White Kandle or the new Black Kandle in any mix and match quantity, it seems, as well.

If you are unsure how to use promotion codes at Amazon, I have the process outlined step by step in this blog post.
