Have you made sure that you are doing a genuine re-boot. Some people have made the mistake of simply turning off and turning back on again.

You need to either go to Menu, Settings, Menu, Restart or hold your off slide across for about 15 seconds.

When it restarts this way it will take a good 30 - 40 seconds. You get the kid sitting under a tree and a progress bar will run across the screen.

Then it starts up and you will have the collections all saying zero, about 5 seconds later they will all fill up and you will be done.

Like others I hadn't read the subtle differences between Restart & Reset & couldn't get it to work.

I was bringing down curses on all your House.

I sincerely hope that you weren't injured by a falling donkey or suffered one of the 10 plagues.

But now - Canonisation just isn't enough. You deserve more. I'm thinking, even, of letting you join my gang!

Don't forget BTW that once all the rebooting etc. is finished, the Kindle will then go through a very extensive (and power-intensive) indexing process. Battery gets hot and depletes if it's a big collection to index, e.g. several hundred books, and during this time you may have trouble using your Kindle, as I did: nothing responds and your first thought is that your beloved reader has gone belly-up. Fear not, and wait...... And wait.....

The KCM is a nice piece of work. My thanks to Adrian.

I do encounter this problem:

- Some books just refuse to go into any collection on my Kindle 3 even though they have been added in KCM and changes committed and rebooted. They remain stubbornly listed separately, after the collection list.

- When such a "problem book" is added to multiple collections, it will fail to show up in any of them.

- The problem seems related to file size:

1) Everything below 2,996 KB is okay - 14 out of 14 files okay

2) Everything above 7,752 KB can't be added - 7 out of 7 files can't be added

3) Of the 10 books between 4,004 KB and 6,229 KB - 6 out of 10 are okay, the other 4 can't be added. There's no clear cutoff point, i.e. the 4,004 KB file can't be added, while the 6,229 KB one is fine.

Any idea why this is happening?

From a 10/13/10 post, this is the most current link. I was able to go through the process and download Kindle Collection Manager 4.1 just a few minutes ago. If that link no longer works, then scrolling back through posts will bring up other links posted by members while Adrian was offline.

Just installed V 0.4.1 and found a problem.

The program shows duplication of titles in Kindle collections, when the Kindle itself does not show duplication and there is no physical duplication of books on the device. This occurrs in 3 different collections

To test - I deleted all of the duplicated books from a single collection [there were 2 books, each duplicated], then restarted the Kindle, checked to see that the books were no longer in the collection, then put the 2 books back into the empty collection - then when I started the KCM program again, both books were duplicated again.

The Kindle is showing the books correctly, but KCM isn't.
