950 Case Color

Has anyone else noticed that any reference to the black version of the 950 has been removed from the Sony site? It used to show pictures of the silver, but with a comment that shipping versions would be black. That is now gone. I wonder if they are now only going to release the silver? I personally wish they would bring back the dark blue color of the 505.

I would prefer a darker color 950 as well. Abt.com still indicates a black cased 950 is coming although silver is pictured. I chatted online with them last week asking if they are really expecting black after telling them that the Sony site only offers silver. After some delay, they indicated that they were, but I am skeptical.

Encouraging find: If you go to the following site and click on the drop down box for model, there are two listed for the 950: PRS-950SC and PRS-950BC. It seems two colors were, or are(?), being contemplated. Maybe there is hope yet for a color choice...

Since I bought my 950 I'm sure they will release a color I really wanted. Didnt want silver but also didn't want to wait on a color that never comes.

I am in that limbo you avoided, and probably wasting my time hoping. Maybe the pre-orders for the silver were not high enough to justify two versions of the product line? This would explain the elimination of references the OP reported.

If you look at pevious models i.e. 700 and 900 they only came in one color so I'm guessing if they offer another color for the 950 it will be towards the end of it's life cycle to spur last minute sales before it's replacement is released.

I spoke with Sony this morning and was told that the 950 will be offered in black but no one knows when. It doesn't appear on their schedule.

What is the fastest way to take delivery on a 950 cover (color doesn't matter to me)? Pre-ordering from Sony? Or some other strategy??

You might get lucky and find a reader or accessories at a nearby retail store, but so far the ones in north Texas seem to be dragging their feet on stocking the new readers and accessories. I ordered my 350 and later my 350's cover from Sony and got both in a few days.

M, I noticed that Best Buy online shows the 950 cover is available for pre-order in black.

Black seems to be the only color available for now, and Sony is shipping, everyone else seems to be behind.

Only the ones with lights. The one without light is backordered.
