The Wild Cards series, edited by George R. R. Martin. Hands down, the most amazing, exciting, hilarious, sexy and downright captivating books ever.

I love the Flashman books and must have read all of them at least 5 times each. To have that feeling of just having come across them and know that there are several more in the series to read would just be great.

BTW, although there are themes and connections, each of the books could be read as a stand-alone work and thoroughly enjoyed (IMHO).
I know! I feel like a kid in a candy shop! He's such a delicious character.

It's good to know they can be read independently. I really wrestled with whether I should read in publishing or chronological order (I've gathered that later books cover earlier periods of his life, as the papers were "discovered" ), but ultimately I decided to read them in publishing order.

My only hiccup has been choosing to go next to "Tom Brown's Schooldays" for backstory. What a slog-through that's turning out to be! It certainly gives me context for the tenor of the times that Fraser was skewering, but it's so dull compared to Flashy's saga.
