I love audiobooks as well as ebooks. I listen to audiobooks in the car every day. I like to have the first book of a series in audiobook and finish a series as ebooks. The audiobooks helps me set the tone and accents. For example; I read all the Stephanie Plum ebooks now with a New Jersey accent and all the Dave Robicheaux novels with a heavy cajun accent. The readers for both of those series are excellent. Last edited by edbro; 10-28-2010 at 12:45 PM. |

Finally finished the French book I was reading on holy wars and crusades. It was not an exciting read and I had some small doubts on the author's agenda, as he sometimes seemed to be trying to mix contemporary politics and ethics with an objective historical narration. But an interesting read nevertheless. I am now curious about crusades, a subject that had never particularly interested me, and thinking of finding other books on that subject.

Still reading Ulysses. I have now switched to a version found on MR, after buying two versions, one e-book and one p-book. The p-book has some interesting notes but the type is hard to read and it's much too heavy to carry about on the subway. The commercial e-book has no footnotes, good formatting but too many OCR errors for comfort. So far the MR version seems to have the best quality. But of course the most important thing is the book itself, and I'm still enjoying it

I'm reading Crusader's Cross by James Lee Burke. Great writer, and this isn't even his best. This guy's proof that some of the best writers -- period -- are writing in the crime/mystery genre.

I'm reading "The Way of Kings". It's a long one. I like it so far (I'm about 200 pages in), but I wonder if the story will start to drag, given its length.
