Can you give that a try?

We are working on a fix for a 1.7.2 app as well - as soon as I have an ETA, I'll post an update here.
Hmmm ... I have the issue too but I have never sync'd via wifi prior to getting this problem. I only sync'd via wifi just to get my book to show up.

JC: when I used my fresh-out-of-the-box Kobo and the current desktop application 1.7.1 (and which had never been used with 1.7.0 or had WiFi turned on), I had this problem.

Thanks for the notes - I'll make sure our development team tests these scenarios as well.

Would you guys be willing to get 'developer' versions of the apps to see if it resolves your issues? I'd likely PM you URLs you can use to install the app and see if it fixes your problem. If so, let me know if you're on Windows or Mac please.

Where's the Linux version ?
When I run my Linux Desktop version it says there's an update, but stupidly downloads an .exe file??!
And then it just quits with no error...

Does the fact that there seem to be no update Linux version, mean that I won't be able the free (14-days trial) magazines I just subscribed???

Your newspapers can be delivered wirelessly over WiFi. I am not sure if folks here have run the new desktop in wine yet. Also see the recent Linux thread.

Can you give that a try?
OK, I gave it a try.

1. Factory Reset
2. Plug USB cable into e-reader and firmware updates to 1.7.1
3. Start Kobo computer application and SYNC.
4. The latest last book I just purchased (of four total) is now viewable by the reader (that's good), but another of my four puchased books is not viewable (that's bad).
5. The "\.kobo\kepub" folder shows the four books are indeed loaded into the reader. The first book in the list is not viewable. I can do subsequent Sync's and the missing book shows in the Kobo computer application as re-loading each time I do a sync, and the first book in the list of the "\.kobo\kepub" folder of the reader shows its date updating, but I can't view that book with the reader. It's not in its library.

Note I haven't yet done a wireless sync as I don't want to mess with this test.

Great news! The 'not launching' should have been fixed by our promotion. Is anyone still having a 'not launching' problem like plaid had?

hi.. it seems that since my update to 1.7.1 yesterday, after pressing HOME then the on/off Button for less than 1 sec (quick press) , my kobo wifi switch off instead of going to sleep.

but the sleep mode works if i let open the kobo for more than 15 mins...

strange...

I started Kobo today, was prompted to update, and did it. Now Kobo won't start. When I double-click the icon, I get a "Kobo.exe has stopped working." dialog box, and it won't start. I went to the link and downloaded a new copy of the installer directly, and re-installed. Same problem.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 64-bit.

Does it let us select which books we want to sync to our ereaders from our library on the Kobo cloud servers? I've purchased a few books that weren't all that special and don't feel the need to carry them on my Kobo at all times.

All you have to do is delete them (rt click) from the desktop 1.7.x application OR delete them from "I'm Reading" on the website and they will leave your reader forever (unless you want them back, in which case you bookmark them from your purchased list and sync them all over again). I tend to save ePUB copies of everything, anyway, just in case.

You can also use Calibre to delete books from your reader--but if they remain in I'm Reading on the web, they will reappear.
