We had a Florida day about 3 or so weeks ago - humidity was unmatched which is very odd for a place like this with so much moisture. As mentioned, the last 3 days have been drenching, like 6 inches out at the ocean, 35 foot waves and feet of early snow in the mountains (yes! skiing). I like the old brick buildings (not great for earthquake country) at Fort Lewis, now called joint base McCord or something like that.

I like putting my thumb over the page-forward button, the next three fingers on the back, and my little-finger bent to stick out underneath the bottom to support the weight. This gives a pretty good grip; three fingers in back and two in front (I can rotate it completely around without it slipping out of my hand). Works well for reading on my side in bed as well as for sitting up.
I like to read mine without the case (unless I'm travelling with it). Makes it lighter and it's easier to switch hands if desired. I've had my K3 since they came out and haven't dropped it yet, and I'm pretty clumsy. If I did drop it, it would usually only be to my lap or the bed, anyway. |

I fold my Oberon cover back and hold it like a book. I use my left thumb for page turns.

I just tape mine to my face.
No, seriously, my palm rests against the left edge with my thumb either over the keyboard or the nav buttons and my fingers going left-to-right across the back. (Yeah, I'm a leftie.) |

That's the way I do it too, although sometimes I press the forward button by accident. I suppose this style wouldnt be easy for women or men with smaller hands. |

![]() I always read it in the Oberon cover, and swap back and forth between my right and left hands. Either way, it's easy to slip your hand in the flap or between the covers to support it. |

I am a righty and I hold the Kindle in my left hand and use my thumb to press either the forward or back button. The palm of my left hand curves slightly and cups the bottom of the Kindle.

My frog cramps if I hold the kindle that way naked.
![]() When it's in the case, that's how I hold it, though. Doubling the front cover around to the back, it provides enough thickness to hold it that way, without my frog cramping. (I'm loving the frog thing. ![]() In bed, naked, or in the case, I usually hold it in ways that I'm afraid are... weird. ![]() First, I rest the bottom on a pillow. Then, when it's in the case, I put: Middle and pinkie fingers around the back. Index finger in the space between the covers. Ring finger over the page turn button. I click the page button kinda backwards - with the dorsal side of my ring finger, between my first and second knuckles. Without the case (which is how I got started doing that - see cramping frog), I put all fingers around the back, except my middle finger, which then does the clicking. Don't ask me why. I dunno. I think it's because it's stronger, and without the thickness, I need more leverage...? Am I the only person who holds it anything like that? ![]() Last edited by Piper_; 10-27-2010 at 02:21 AM. Reason: Fixed finger placements, after going to bed, starting to read, and realizing I had written them wrong. |
