I really hope the next book on my list doesn't need as much editing, I'd rather review the story than the mechanics of the story!

That was a very nice, well-thought out review. Kudos for how you presented the information professionally (no snark) and reported the good with the bad.

Now THAT is a recommendation! I'm "between books" , finished Garden Spells last night... I'm thinking now this should be next!

You allowed yourself to finish a book without having another one already ready to start? Good heavens! What's wrong with you!

LOL well, you can take your pick. I'm either distracted waiting for grandbaby news, or I'm distracted trying to find out if my landlord is going to fix my roof before I don't HAVE one for him to fix, or I'm spoiled for choice with so many books on my reader...or a combination of all of the above!

I just finished "Fundraising the Dead" by Sheila Connolly, a new book in her Philadelphia Antiguarian Society mystery series. I really enjoyed it, especially a few months after I finished "Priceless" by Robert Wittman (autobiography of FBI agent in charge of retrieving stolen art). Apparently Connolly was working at an Philadelphia historical society in which a janitor was stealing artifacts, and Wittman was the FBI agent on the case (it's in his book). I didn't know this until after I bought Connolly's book. Weird how all of these things come together...

Earlier I also started "The Lost Hero" by Rick Riordan. It has some formatting issues, and even though I finished the series only a few months ago I'm having a hard time remembering who everyone is. Hopefully I pick it up again soon.

I didn't know that either, cool! I finished Fundraising the Dead a few weeks back and really enjoyed it. I'll have to look up that autobiography of Wittman's.

I just finished The Gospel of Jesus by Robert W. Funk and The Jesus Seminar. It's a composite gospel based on those elements that—in the opinion of the scholars associated with The Jesus Seminar—constitute the actual words and deeds of the historical Jesus. It's a by-product of their earlier works, The Five Gospels and The Acts of Jesus.

It's only available in paperback.

I just finished the graphic novel, Sword of the Atom, written by MR's own Jan Strnad, author of Risen, the October Book Club selection. It was a fun ride and a whole new take on DC's tiniest hero as opposed to the way I remember him as a teenager. I provided more info on the book in this post. (I don't wish to repeat that info here because of the rules against cross-posting.)

This one also is only available in paperback. Seems I've been reading more paper books lately. Not by choice; but because they've been unavailable as ebooks. (Risen, of course, is available in ebook format. Click the above link.)

I'm planning on reading Ray Bradbury's Let's All Kill Constance, so I'm re-reading the other two Crumley mysteries, Death Is a Lonely Business and A Graveyard for Lunatics about a writer in Venice, CA who is a fictionalized version of Bradbury and his detective friend Crumley.

Also planning on reading Green Shadows, White Whale, a fictionalized account of Bradbury's time in Ireland working with John Huston on the script for Moby Dick

Just finished In the Heart of the Sea: The Sinking of the Whaleship Essex in audiobook format. What a great story! Now, I'm motivated to read Moby Dick. Moby Dick was inspired by the Essex story.

Both are excellent reads (IMHO) - I find I enjoy reading Moby Dick so much more now (rather than in various school levels) - I missed all the humor and literary allusions before.

You definitely should. I actually got to meet him at an event and he was hilarious. It's a fun book.

Loooooved that one. Made me want to read Moby Dick too, but I still haven't gotten around to it. If you liked that you should read "In Harm's Way" by Doug(?) Stanton. It's about the sinking of the USS Indianopolis (the one Quint talks about in Jaws). Riveting book.

Speaking of illusions, I am reading _The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo_ right now and there was a line something like, "I've well read my Dorothy Sayers"... thanks to the MRBC I knew what that meant.
