So a vanilla Kindle is sort of like a Kindle that still has its virginity?

@Stonecold: If you're talking to me, then no. Everything that's been posted by me, has, well, been posted by myself from my own shots

Like this: http://www.google.nl/images?q=fantas...800&source=lnt I have this one http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...rcJJ8_BPUtgQY= and this one http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A..._bwOfcpqYpSEA= Though the last one is a bit too dark the first one looks amazing. Search for anything different like "fantasy" that you like ![]() Oh and color images seem to look best (better then b/w) but you need to find images with some contrast. Otherwise you need to open up gimp (or another image manipulation software) to change it. |

Then you did it wrong. You have to click on the pictures to enlarge them and then right-click and press "Save as", otherwise, you're just downloading thumbnails!

I upgraded usbNetwork to v0.27 and sshd over wifi worked. Then I upgraded fw to 3.0.3. Now sshd is not working after
;debugOn ~usbNetwork Mounting the Kindle over USB shows that the usbnet directory is still there. Reinstalling the usbNetwork 0.27 cured the sshd problem and I can connect to it via wifi as before. So it looks like even v0.27 cannot survive the 3.0.3 upgrade. Last edited by valex; 10-24-2010 at 02:01 PM. |

If so do a: ps -ef|grep sshd and see if it returns something like this: root 14663 1 0 19:58 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/dropbear -P /mnt/us/usbnet/run/sshd.pid root 16858 14663 4 20:03 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/dropbear -P /mnt/us/usbnet/run/sshd.pid -> this means ssh is running. -> if it does not show this you need to start sshd. The only thing I remember that needs to be activated on the kindle is g_ether (modprobe g_ether). Maybe it got deleted during the update/restart? You can find info on g_ether with /sbin/modinfo g_ether Any other questions and smart sollutions will come from NiLuJe ![]() (now let's see if he is up to the challenge > ![]() |

@valex: AFAIK, the update didn't touch anything else that would mess things up for sshd. I'd like to take a look at your logs (;dumpMessages) to make sure, but it's most probably a fluke due to a stale sshd process.
@Rinzwind: * chicken. egg. How would you be able to see a sshd process *over ssh* if it's down? Now, over telnet, yes. * g_ether is only used for ethernet over *usb*, so if he's in sshd_only mode, it won't be loaded, the device would still be in usbms. Besides, it's part of the default system, so, no, you don't mess with it unless you really, really know what you're doing. |
