I'm starting "Stalling for Time" today, but if I finish I may start "Cabinet of Curiosities," since a few people in this thread have mentioned it recently. Picked it up a while ago from a book sale.

I put up a few thoughts on Soulless, the first in the Parasol Protectorate series over on my goodreads account. I started to post them here, but sounds like several of you are planning to read it! I don't post spoilers, but don't my babbling to change expectations of the book or anything. I will say it's a good book (not a great one) and I'm willing to bet the series gets better as it goes on now than some things are out of the way. If anyone wants the link over there, let me know. I'm debating doing a more thorough review, but it would be hard to do without putting in spoilers!!! |

I started it last night and it was just the thing for my mood. Granted, it's not great, but it's like the paranormal version of Amelia Peabody and Emerson, and definitely a mood-lightener!

I think I can stream that through Netflix. Worth watching then? I'll check it out.

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7009913-soulless (I think that will take you to my review--it should, but I think it shows all teh reviews. Mine is...surprisingly listed under my name. I really liked the "concepts" in this book, although I thought it could have been a tad tighter in logic in a couple of places (some of the vampire stuff didn't add up. Yeah, I know it's fiction. But still, things have to stay within logic for me!) It is a good read though. Kind of a romance/cozy paranormal mystery.

I'm still reading it but getting frustrated with the Penguin ePub edition. The OCR errors are getting more numerous as I progress in the book. It's really annoying to read a sentence I can't understand and there is a tiny chance that I can't understand it only because there is an error in it. As opposed to all the other sentences that I can't understand because.

I think we're getting tangled subthreads. I was referring to Pillars of the Earth not Uselesses.... |
