Captain Blood looks interesting and I found it here on MR. Thanks for the recommendation.

I have just finished reading the second book of a trilogy written by Harry
Bernstein. The first two 'The Invisible Wall and 'The Dream' were very good, and reminiscent of 'Angela's Ashes'. I bought them without any trouble from Amazon in Australia. The last book 'The Juniper Tree', I am unable to buy beacuse of; you guessed it "Geographical Restrictions". and to add insult to injury it's a whopping $25.00.

*Walks away shaking head.*

Cheers.

I'm reading The Pumpkinification of the Divine Claudius (Seneca). It's short and funny.

Damn, I forgot about "Side Jobs!" I already exceeded my book budget for the month. Luckily a new month starts in little over a week!

I just finished "The Big Sleep" by Raymond Chandler, which I ended out really enjoying (great ending!). Last night I purchased "The Tiger" by John Vaillant, apparently about a tiger who stalks a man and kills him out of vengeance (true story, heard about it on NPR and it's getting great reviews on goodreads). A splurge for me at $9.99. Also picked up "The Lost Hero" by Rick Riordan (a splurge as well) and a bundle of two books by Zoe Archer, which a lot of people I'm following on Goodreads have been enjoying (good deal on the bundle).

I also checked out from the library last week "Stalling for Time" by Gary Noesner (about FBI hostage negotiation), "Leave Me Alone, I'm Reading" by Maureen Corrigan, and "Fatal Journey: The Final Expedition of Henry Hudson" by Peter Mancall.

I'm pretty much going to spend my entire weekend reading

I am VERY impressed with some of his turn of phrases, and how successful he is at keeping the action/drama high without going necessarily overboard. I'm also sightly in love with Captain Blood himself, lol.

Finished The Cabinet of Curiosities (third book in the Pendergast series) by Douglas and Preston. Although I found the plot rather simplistic it was good enough. I suspect the function of this novel was to really introduce Agent Pendergast to the readers since in the previous two books he only played a limited role.

Started on Larsson's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I've read about 75 (epub) pages and I haven't been able to really get into it. It's okay, but not a page turner. From what I read after 100+ pages it should get better and I hope it does.

I'm now reading Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese
The first thing that confused me was the sentence: 'Fortysix and four years later'.. Does that mean 50?

I think the book could have been a bit more edited, so the times (years) were more in sync... Not going back and forward...

I'm re-reading "e: The Novel of Liars, Lunch, and Lost Knickers" by Matt Beaumont. It's a book entirely made up of emails between staff at an advertising company, and it always always makes me laugh (but then, perhaps I have a twisted sense of humour!).

Most definitely. I started it and stopped it a couple of times before I finally plunged on into it, and I was glad I did. For some reason the setup portion of that book is not particularly indicative of what the rest of the book is like. It seemed as if it were going to be a boring book about corporate espionage. Once it starts following Lisbeth, though, it takes off and stays in that vein throughout the rest of the series. I know there are quite a few people here who didn't care for the books at all, but I really liked them. Hope you do too!

A friend recommended Edward Rutherfurd during a discussion of Ken Follett books.
AAAaargh - Cant buy these books from amazon.com (live in denmark) so the "DarkNet" helped. The Forest is on the menu right now.

Hi Kenny
Do it !! It's great even for a Dane with no geographic sense what so ever.
It's a great story, and you might even get more from it than me.
GO for it !

Wikipedia has a good summary of the structure.
