The unbreakable screen is real tech around the corner - I recently saw a news article about putting the essential "last mm" transistors on plastic instead of today's glass. I have a hard time beliving that will give a roll-up display - the mobo and battery would be tough to shrink, and a half-curled mildy shiny display sucks. The screen can stop being a liability, though.
I'd like to see a dual screen setup, so it can fold neatly in half. It'd be really slick (but expensive) if the mating screen edges tucked in from the hinge when folded, but come to a close mate while the thing opened. I imagine the movement being origamical like the old Thinkpad expanding keyboard. Uncorruptible metadata. I've had to nuke my search cache, I wouldn't want to drive across country to do the same for grandma. A barcode scanner. Amazon could give you a competing bid on anything you're looking at on a shelf. Sucks for the retailer, but isn't that what capitalism is about? A Microphone. What were they going to do with that, again? |

1) Epub support
2) White background instead of light grey (it might be better than past e-ink screens, but still rather grey) 3) Dump the keyboard and WiFi. I don't use them, rather have the space/weight they take up. 4) Some sort of cover over the screen so it's flush with the frame. I could probably put something over it, but I always end up with air bubbles which get on my nerves. 5) In additional to the TTS features having a male and female voice, have a dog and cat option as well. (If they have cats and dogs sing christmas carols, they can read books, too) So really, I probably would have gotten a Kobo 2 if they hadn't decided to turn it into a Kindle 3 clone. |

Wasted electronics are wasted. My phone can take pictures + do basic web + play music + works as GPS, and my kindle can display books for me to read on. Dy desktop can play games. I wonder how many people scoffed like a clown at the kids who thought up the idea to put the wheel on the ipod, or the motion/ir sensor in the wii remote. Thought + prototypes give us more than instant negative feedback. Besides, what I suggested is entirely different than an Ipad, as it does not have an e-ink display. I was suggesting compacting the device by adding a miniature touchscreen/lcd, which would increase the speed of menu functions because e-ink is slow, and it also wouldn't fill up the reading area with thumb prints. But you are entitled to your opinion, so scoff away. |

Oh, see now that you read my post you understand. Nothing much, just add a stylus and the other features I suggested earlier.
Keyboard is stupid waste of real estate. |

Two very simple wishes that could easily be solved with the next firmware:
1) The ability to turn off indexing; not everyone needs it, it's a pain in the processor, zaps the battery and occasionally gets stuck. 2) The ability to display an average page number rather than the horrible Location; it can't surely be rocket science to decide on a number of characters contained in an average dead-trees book, and then display that to make the reading experience more attuned to the physical practice. |

Probably not the best way to get to this, but can't you use debug menu to disable indexing feature? Thought I saw a post about this earlier

Colour screen. Faster response rate. Slide out keyboard (or touch screen, provided it doesn't attract prints).

Whiter background :-)
Underlying (wacom style) tablet (for drawing). SD(HC) slot. Possibility to buy another voices especially national ones. Possibility to localize user interface (even by user self). Bigger display, thinner boarders (slightly smaller Kindle, but little bigger screen). If tablet or touch-screen inbuilt, drop keyboard (or make keyboard concealed). |

I want it to make me breakfast in bed. And to think for me. Solar cells would be cool. The ability to take notes even when i am in the browser would be nice.
