My beautiful rat, Max, just died in my arms.. I feel so bad.. I knew he was sick, and he should have been put down, probably weeks ago... I was selfish, and wanted to keep him with me for a few more days...

My sincerest condolances. As you know I lost my canary the other week, so I know how you feel, though that torment of "put them down" or "hold on another week" is something we all struggle with. The feeling, the wondering if it's the right thing to do and second guessing if they could talk, would they ask us to do it.

It is always tough to lose a friend. Like H_T said though, Max had a great life because of you. Eventually the hurt will go away and you'll be able to look back on the good times and be happy about them!
