Thanks for your answer to me. As I said "So I should click the screen once to make it away" in my reply, just the 'indexing files' screen isn't refreshed without any other problem. If I tap anywhere on the screen or click any button, it actually works - the problem is only the 'stopped' screen at start-up. Today I tried many times more with my device, this problem wasn't solved.
It seems that it occurs in any folder, not only in RecentlyRead folder. And the number of the items in RecentlyRead folder are 15. Plus, at this point, if I click 'to Home', home screen turns up normally but the surrounding box is not on 'RecentlyRead' normally, but on 'RecentlyAdded'. I installed the original firmware and Mackx Patch again but it didn't work.. In other hand, when I close a document at last and reset my devie, the closed last document is loaded at start-up. Although I closed it before reset.. Originally, only opened ones at shutdown is loaded next start-up, isn't it? I don't have any idea why this occurs only on my device;; |

The patched code updates the gconf data w.r.t. the document that needs to be started. This information is written to dr.ini on the SD-card when the DR shutsdown. When you reset the device, it does not update dr.ini and thus uses the old information that was in there when you previously started. So it does not open the last closed document, but the document that was open during the last normal shutdown.

Which SD-card are you using? The original from iRex or another one? Is the 'Indexing Files' also not removed when the last document is started? or only when starting with a different start-view/folder? Does it also occure when using the original Home/Desktop as start-screen? |

When the last document is started, the stopped 'Indexing Files' screen problem doesn't occurs. And it doesn't occur when the home screen is start-screen. Originally, the 'set as start-page' function is a very convenient one I think! Anyway, if you have any other questions, ask more then I'll reply here after I see it. Thanks. |

@bokjeid: Thanks for your answers, I see if I can find a possible cause of the problem.

After extensive use, the remaining problem I have with the patch is the following: if the device is turned off or goes to sleep while on a pdf or another file, when it wakes up, it is impossible to access the home folder, the corresponding tap, even though it says folder, just reflects the last file. After closing all the files, the home folder is black and says page 2 of 16, the menu is accessible though and you can turn off and restart the device ... anyone else with such a problem ?
(the workaround I use is to make sure that the device is on the home folder before I shut it down) |

Hi fekhner,
I need some more info. I assume you are using the option: 'All documents Active on Shutdown', right? How many documents are re-opened after startup? Are they 'big'-files, interms of, need a lot of time to render? It seems familiar, though. When you say that you see page 2 of 16. Do you also see one icon, and when going to another page, again one other icon from the home-screen is shown? I have seen something like that during development of the hack. I normally use 'Document Active on Shutdown' and then I do not see the problem you describe. So that could be a workaround. Regards, Marcel. |

Hi Marcel,
Thanks for your quick answer. Quote:

one 360 KB pdf file, one 3.9 MB pdf file, one 20 MB djvu file (closing on that one, does not take a lot of time to render) --> problem appears = home folder tab and home icon from menu at the bottom just reflect the djvu document, or after closing that, one of the other pdf documents, all documents are readable Quote:

as always, thanks a lot for your help, will use this workaround from now on, best wishes, G |

Ahum
![]() I 'discovered' that I was already testing a newer version of the hack for some time now ![]() Version 0.6: - Correct menu is now shown at startup (timing dependent!) - Also save/restore when ejecting/re-inserting SDcard - Cleanup of prints - Moved manual to Help folder to make it accessible on the DR - Show more files in the recent files views (19+19 = 2 pages) @fekhner: maybe this also solves the problem when starting multiple documents. See \Programs\Help\MackxPatch User Manual.pdf for installation and usage instructions. Marcel. |

Mackx, and others,
Thanks for al your great work! I've installed your patch 6 and I'm really happy with the LastApp function. Only I'm unable to get the Recently Read view working. (None of the other new views either). I've tried everything in this post. It seems others have had this problem as well and were able to solve it. I'm working from Ubuntu, so I don't think the unzipping problem occurs with me, and I've installed the patch onto the latest beta firmware (rc3). I made sure I had the right _apply.sh and add_anyfolder files like you mentioned in an earlier post and I tried running them from the terminal with rxvt. This triggered the installation of the patch, but as I mentioned, no sign of the new views after reboot.... I cannot activate them through the settings menu either (though it's great that I could finally get rid of useless icons such as 'news' ![]() Could it be a problem that I haven't installed xournal? I hope you can help me out a little, I'm just a beginner. Thanks in advance! |

That is strange. Did you get all the dialogs after clicking on the install-icon (In Programs/Install)? (like: "Do you want to install MackxPatch?" and "Do you want to install the schemas for the new Views?")
Can you check System/dr.ini it should have lines like these: Code:
/apps/er/patch/ctb/views/recent/mode=enabled /apps/er/patch/ctb/views/application/mode=enabled /apps/er/patch/ctb/views/recentlyread/mode=enabled /apps/er/patch/ctb/views/xournal/mode=enabled /apps/er/patch/ctb/views/installer/mode=enabled running gconftool-2 -R /apps/er/patch in rxvt on the DR would also be usefull. You can use gconftool-2 -R /apps/er/patch >/media/mmcblk0p1/patch.txt to get the output in a file on the root of your SD-card. You should see blocks of data like these: Code:
/apps/er/patch/ctb/views/recentlyread: fixed_order = true mode = enabled title = Recently Read sort_order = date_read path = style = date icon = recent subtitle = See Most Recent Read Documents position = 220 tag_filter = I will see if I can find what the problem is. PS: Did you find the document : /Programs/Help/MackxPatch User Manual.pdf ? Last edited by Mackx; 01-18-2011 at 03:39 PM. Reason: added gconftool-stuff |

Yes, I did get both dialogs, and also the reboot dialog, exacly as described in the User Manual (which I found, and read before install
![]() My dr.ini looks ok to me, according to the example lines you gave in the last post. It has exactly lines like those. (I posted them to you just a minute ago in a private message). Running gconftool was a good idea, I think the problem is definately in there somewhere because your example lines don't really match up to the output my DR gives. I'll send you the patch.txt output file right away also. I really appreciate it! |
