Here's one, current bid is $365. Or just search eBay for "htc evo 4g".
You can get a better price for one that has a "bad ESN", which means that it can't be activated on Sprint (usually because it's been reported stolen). Last edited by wodin; 10-19-2010 at 02:34 PM. |

Bah, this is a non-news issue with me. As far as I'm concerned it's just Steve Jobs suffering another one of his inferiority complexes, thus forcing him to run around debasing everyone who is a competitor to make his nonsense seem better. As for the touch screen comment by tubemonkey, I used to work with a Nokia n810 which only had a 4" screen (gawds I miss having MID. Someone bring out another one, please! T_T) and I had absolutely no issues touching screen elements with that with my bare fingers, although I preferred the stylus by leaps and bounds. Even if I had a 10" screen, I'd still want a stylus. They're so much nicer to work with when dealing with a touch screen. Plus, you're less prone to soil the screen with your dirty, nasty fingers that way. ^_^

In the end, a netbook is far more functional than a tablet; and yet, it's still portable. |

Without that dock, I would likely have not bought one. I keep one at home, and one at work. If I need to do some serious typing I use it, and it works well. |

That's fine if you use your tablet mostly at home and work. I only use mine when I travel or when my desktop is down (the latter happening only once). The idea of having to drag a dock around with me to use a tablet just galls me (I hate touch screens, mostly because they hate me, but also because they aren't as precise as a mouse; yes, I carry a mouse for my netbook).

Well, back to my dislike of the 'all in one' philosophy...it's rather like buying a TV with integrated DVD and VCR. If one of them requires service or dies, it takes the rest with them until it's replaced or repaired. I'm an 'all for one and one for all' type of person. I have a full sized desktop number cruncher that does everything (home built and overclocked for performance) with two monitors, one of them a 24" LCD. Then I use a laptop with 15" screen for travel and net access. I use the Kindle for reading, period. Each excels at it's intended function -- power on the desktop, portability for the laptop and lightweight readability for the Kindle. Anything else is too much of a compromise for me. No offense, just personal preference.

I find that Jobs doesn't always mean what we think he means.
1) I still remember the pre-introduction quote on the Segway: "They'll have to reinvent cities for this thing." At the time everyone thought it meant that cities would be reinvented due to the introduction of the Segway. With hindsight, I think it meant that the only way it would be successful was ifyou reinvented the city. 2) No ebook readers. I think this = no dedicated ebook readers. He wants to sell many more devices and is willing to sell a multi-purpose device, but thinks the market for ebooks is too small. 3) No tablets. There are two ways he rejected previous visions of tablets. First, the Newton style: even after the iPad was announced he stated that one of the keys was finding an O/S that didn't depend on handwriting. Second, no windows style: he didn't think the tablet needed or should be a full computer. It's attributes should be different. 4) Regarding screen size, some folks have pointed to the smaller iPhone/Touch screens. The point is that those aren't intended to be tablets, although some of us use them as such. So, maybe no 7-inch iPad, but how about a 7-inch game board, or a 7-inch media controller for the new AppleTV, that just happens to run the same iOS. Understand, I'm not saying he is right, just that this is how I believe he interprets these things. |

I kind of agree, but you should see me travel or even go to work. I have my Android phone in my pocket, I carry my Windows 7 laptop, I bring along my iPad, and, of course, I have my Kindle (How is that for giving a little love to every major player). Sometimes I think I would be willing to compromise a little for fewer things to carry around -- and fewer chargers to bring on trips.
