Yes, this is why the connect to option can be good to use. I'm sure the new Kobo will be included as a device in a future calibre software update.

Well, I can't thank you both enough. I'll use the work around until Calibre is updated to include the new Kobo.
In the meantime, I'm very happy to have a way to add my own content within Calibre.

I plugged in my non-wifi Kobo the other day to buy and add a new book and Calibre didn't recognise it. Windows picks it up fine, but Calibre does not. So, it may be a problem with the newest version of Calibre and Kobo's in general, rather than the wifi Kobo.

I'm buying books from the Kobo store at the moment, so I've just added them with the Kobo app and haven't really bothered trying to fix it yet, so I have no idea how many others have had the same problem.

@Joyful: The list of USB devices on your system with and without the Kobo plugged in is identical.

So I don't understand, what does that mean?

My original KOBO is seen by Calibre but this new one isn't.
Thankfully,I've been able to add things to the new one via the workarounds that dwanthny and billthereader gave me but I would really like Calibre to see the device as it does my original one.

That means that either you ran the debug input twice with the device disconnected or that your device is not being detected by windows.

Windows definitely sees it. I'm able to browse the KOBOeReader drive and folders and I've been adding content within Calibre using the Connect/share button and directing it to that drive.

I'll re-run the debug device detection again now.

Calibre doesn't automatically see my new Kobo, either.

In the Calibre menu, I chose "Connect/Share" then "Connect to Folder" and selected the root of the Kobo, i.e. not any specific folder.

Seems to work just fine.

Hi, just adding an extra confirmation note that Calibre doesn't recognize the Kobo Wireless.

I had received the Original Kobo as a gift, tested various things about it, including interfacing with Calibre. Calibre recognized it fine and allowed me to send files to the device.

Then I read about the new Kobo Wireless coming out, so I packed it up and returned it and waited for the new one.

Just picked up my new one yesterday (I like it), but discovered that Calibre acts like it doesn't see it. I upgraded from the previous Calibre version to 0.7.23; still no joy.

I was about to try re-installing Calibre, but then read the above posts. I assume that an updated Calibre driver is in order.

FYI.

Thanks corona and Beethoven for posting. I was beginning to feel a little delusional.
I was considering returning the Kobo.
