I'm home, finally. There was (can you guess?) another (guessed it yet?) freaking (last chance!) technical incident on the freaking RER and the train took forever, but I'm home. I think I'm ready for that ZCD now, Am.

I just realized that my Wacom tablet has died

It stopped working a few days ago but I thought it was a problem with my USB hub, that has happened before (or was it the tablet misbehaving already?). Anyway, it won't respond, even when plugged directly to the computer. I need to get another, fast! I can't play Solitaire without it

Well, if we were going to be in the city this weekend I'd suggest a meetup, but as far as I know, we're spending this weekend at home.

All of this is correct except the Macy part; it's actually the pseudonym of a singer in the States.

Okay not really (again, except the Macy part); Chicago (the name comes from the indigenous Potawatomi word meaning "Hey! You can't do that!") is the 3rd-largest city in the States. It used to be 2nd-largest, but then we invented something called a "suburb" and a lot of people moved into them. It is the longtime home of American President Barack Obama and many of his friends, some of whom are now either in jail or under investigation. In the 1930s, Chicago became popular for being a center of organized crime; in this case, "crime" means "illegal stuff" and "organized" means "City Hall knew about it". Since then, local government kicked out the criminals and took their jobs, thus cutting out the middle-man. There are two seasons, winter and construction. The city is home to Sears Tower, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere; it was renamed by some idiots from an insurance company but most Chicagoans ignore the name change. Trump is building something here but a lot of us don't really care. Before being developed, the area was a large garlic field; we later became an exporter of some of the best pizza on the planet.

Seriously...I was born and raised there, and I have mostly wonderful memories of it; the art, the music, the architecture, the cultural diversity, the food--egads, the FOOD--check out this great city...quickly, before the local cronies ruin it for everyone.

Actually, I too was thinking that this called for a meet-up of some sort. If pshrynkie is travelling XXX miles to be in Chicago, certainly those of us who live due west of the place can travel fewer miles to meet him! However, we may have an out -- his schedule is probably already booked full.

Would you *like* us to work up a gathering? Or is your schedule indeed full-up? (us suburbanites like the city, but we hate travelling to go there)

Not sure what model tablet or kind of computer you are on, but I've had ongoing issues with the tablet services not working correctly (not the tablet itself)...

I've had to reinstall the drivers a few times in the past as well.

Oops, I never thought to try that, and I ordered a new tablet already

But that tells you how often I've had to reinstall the driver lately... in fact, as far as I can remember (which isn't that reliable, I'll admit), never, apart from clean OS installs. And the tablet is 8 years old, I just checked. It's a Wacom Intuos 2 and I'm on a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X.5, by the way.
