I was responding to the fellow who said he's been waiting three weeks for the Sony Store to send his unit. I went to the Seattle Sony Store to see the 650 for myself first, so wouldn't buy one unseen either.

While it's nice to know, it doesn't help someone like me who has already placed an order. You know what they say about hindsight.

I agree with wanting to see one in the flesh. I got my hands on a PRS350 before I ordered a PRS650 from Sony. The previous generation screens weren't contrasty enough for me. The Pearl screen is "good enough" for me, although still not like real paper.

Both the 350 (silver) and the 650 (black) are available at the Borders in Waikele, Hawaii (island of Oahu) as of 8 October. Saw the 350 demo machine, but they didn't have permission to open one of the 650's for demo yet. Have been waiting for a promised call from the manager, but will stop by tomorrow anyway.

The 350 was on display at a Borders in Corvallis, OR. They had just got the 650 in but the display was not out. It doesn't sound like they will be carrying the 950 (doh!).

It sounds like Target is going the way of Staples -> they are replacing their Sony selection with Kindle.

I bought the Kindle for my husband but I don't really like the menu system and lack of touch. I played with the 350 today for about 1/2 hour and it is sweet.

"They did have pictures of them. "

Well that's helpful I notice that the Kindles on display at stores are locked out of a person being able to actually test it. A little more useful than the picture. The Sony 350 at borders was there for our use - although I couldn't tell if any of the documents/books on it were PDFs.

Hi Folks
I just got mine 650 yesterday ... and I love it!

I think it is the best reader on the market, I love the touchscreen (had the 600 and went broken - ) but this is great.
Perfect to read, perfect touch feeling, perfect size and weight.

I also bought a Sony Cover (black, too) to protect it and awoid what happened with the old one - but that one disappointed me a little, wery poor protection !feeling! and wery cheap-feeling material, for what it is I think you pay too much the brand. But as the best and most important is the ereader I am really happy

thxs to all posting their informations

Typically the User Guide is in PDF format. Open the User Guide on the Reader then select Options > Info and the next screen will tell you the format of the ebook.

I just visited my local Borders in Newcastle, Australia and they had a display with the Sony 350 and 650 plus a Kobo at the front of the store not tucked away in some hidden corner. I was surprised that there was heaps of people looking at the Sony readers(mostly other men and women) but there was little interest in the Kobo reader and the sales assistant seemed to know about the readers. Very unusual for someone who works in a bookstore
It was the first time I had seen the 5 inch reader and it wasn't as small as I expected it to be but still I would get a 6 inch one for the extra screen area.
The 650 seemed faster at changing pages than my 505 and the touch screen was quite responsive.

I also checked out Angus & Robertson and even though they are the same company there was no e-readers there so I guess that's how they are marketing to different audience.

I stopped by the Borders in Vegas at Charleston and 215. They had both the black 650 and silver 350 in stock. I want to stop by with my 900 to compare screens side by side.

My Sony store had the 900 alongside the new ones -- the difference in screens was immediately apparent!
