It appeared there were at least six of the 650 series that I could see on display. As there were a lot of other e-readers and accessories on the same shelf behind the counter, this count may not be accurate. I was too blinded by the desire to purchase one at the time.

I upgraded from the 500 to the 505, skipped the 600 as I thought Sony went backwards on the clarity of the screen. I have been very happy with my 505 for the last couple of years reading it daily. I looked at the 300 when it came out in 2009 and was not happy with the thicker/cheaper feel and smaller size.

When the 350 was announced I didn't even consider it this round based on this previous opinion. It probably was not fair for me, but I really do like the size of the 500, 505 and 650 series. I wear a coat a lot because San Francisco weather allows it and find this series slips into my pocket with ease.

Since I am a big fan of the Sony Readers I will be looking at it when I see it on display. I suspect I over looked them when I was in the store. Only when I see on on display will I truly know if I made the right decision. However what I have now is made me REALLY happy.

I have to go back to the other Borders near me as I need to get a cover as the store I was at didn't have any more unless I wanted a light built it. When I see the 350's I'll definately let you know my opinion on them.

I called that one (the one in Aurora) and they said since they were an outlet store, they didn't think they'd get the new models anytime soon.

I picked the 350 for the portability (and OK, because it came in PINK). If I read mostly at home, I'd have gone for the 650.

Shel- I saw and played with both the 350 & 650 at Borders in Rockford today! I was so excited. Best Buy had the 350, but sealed in a plastic container, not on display to play with.

They are both amazing! Even my husband was impressed with the 350! I'm still partial to the 650. I hope you get a chance to see them soon!

Borders in Keene, New Hampshire has the 350 and 650 on display and in stock.

I picked up the 650 BUT... it was a Spanish version. Menus and books were in Spanish. No problem in flipping the menus to English and all seems OK otherwise. I added the 650 User Guide in English. Should I keep it or return it?

Shouldn't be an issue.. when first setting up my 350 is prompted me for language choice "Menu Language"

There are seven to choose from.
Generally speaking the manufacture will offer a single firmware with multi-lingual options (localization) instead of making 7 different units for each localization.

English
French
Deutsch
Nederlands
Espanol
Italiano
Portugues

I don't know about the included software.. but it should be multi-lingual as well.

Keep it!

Yes, guess I will keep it. A reset and a complete shutdown both restored to English menus and keyboard. Only thing Spanish now are the books. After a few more days they will go.

Hello:

I want to buy this ereader

I wonder if the dictionary is in Spanish or just a translator from Spanish to English?

I await your reply to invest in the purchase of a ereader

Greetings from Spain

It has English-Spanish and Spanish-English dictionaries (and a couple of other languages).

I ordered a PRS650 and a cover from SonyStyle about three weeks ago. The cover arrived in less than a week. As of yesterday, the web site says that the expected ship date for the reader is 1 Oct. It must be shipping via Pluto, as I still don't have it.

The annoying thing is, SonyStyle didn't show the reader as backordered until the order was placed.

It is a nice cover with LED. I just wish I had something to fill it with

I'm telling you folks, ABT ships them within 24 hours - no tax, (UPS ground) shipping included. Took about a week to get here (yesterday). Apologies if I sound like I'm shilling that company here, but I feel bad reading stories like this (or folks waiting on Best Buy, etc.).
