Foxit's "text viewer" -> save?
I'm trying to find ways to view PDFs better.
I noticed that Foxit Reader has this "Text Viewer" mode (from the View menu) which doesn't reflow the document, but it extracts the text and keeps most of the formatting in place, which is a great thing. The problem is that I couldn't save it in this extracted format. Saving happened in the original format. Does anyone know how I could save a PDF in that kind of extracted format? Thanks. |

Just found that "saving as text" works quite well. IMO better than those other text extractors (xpdf or Kindle's extractor).
The only problem is that the text saving is only in the commercial version of Foxit. I would prefer a free version... Has anyone used this feature? Any opinions, thoughts? Alternatives? Last edited by ile; 10-10-2010 at 05:22 PM. |

Hmm.. Seems like xpdf can do the same thing after all, with the -layout option. (pdftotext -layout inputfile outputfile)
Maybe this was common knowledge. Sorry |
