After that I'll probably start with The Banshee House by Brad McClure which is getting mixed reviews.
But they are available as eBooks. At least they are in the US.

I recently finished The Disappearing Spoon as an ebook (public library download), and was a bit underwhelmed.

Now onto a strange book. The Science Behind The Secret by Travis S. Taylor.

So far I'm distinctly unimpressed. I'm only going to finish it because I want to see how he gets where he's apparently going, which seems to be off the deep end.

Of course, I haven't finished the book yet, so I could be mis-judging him (& the book), but having an introduction by John Edward isn't a good sign IMO, and the first chapters haven't don't anything to make me more optimistic.

Oh — weird feeling of deja-vu just now. I wonder if I've written a similar post about James P. Hogan.

I couldn't finish it, but perhaps my frame of mind wasn't right. If I ever decide to break my decades-long acid fast, I may give Ulysses another shot.

Aw, come on you guys, loosen up! Just go with the flow, let the music carry you! I can hear it, and I'm not even a native speaker.

I know that a couple were available as ebook in before the Agency thing in April. BooksOnBoard didn't have them a few weeks ago but now they seem to have reappeared.

Unfortunately ther are not available as epubs, due to bad experiences with pdf ebooks I try to avoid that format unless I know for sure they will look good on my ereader.

Thanks for the the tip, I might just email the publisher asking about an epub version.

I have the same reaction whilst trying to read the poetry of Hart Crane - I haven't the slightest idea what a poem is saying but the language is gorgeous!

Just messin' with you, Florence! But the book does read like it was written by a English Lit professor on psychedelics. Reading it is kind of like getting your head caught in a blender with a kaleidoscope and the works of Homer.

There was one case where the British turned a Nazi agent, then deliberately ran him as incompetently as they could manage, with the idea that the Nazis would discover it, and get an unrealistically low opinion of British Intelligence abilities. Only one problem: the Nazis never picked up that the guy was a double agent...

If you should happen to encounter it, there's a charming British film called "I was Monty's double", in which an actor who resembles Montgomery is recruited by British Intelligence to pretend he is Montgomery, and then sent as Montgomery on an inspection tour of North Africa. It's the build up to the Normandy invasion, and the Germans know a strike is coming, but don't know whether it will be across the English Channel, or up from North Africa, or both, and Intelligence wants to keep them guessing and their forces divided as long as possible.

Dennis,

Thanks for the tip about "I was Monty's Double." I looked on Netflix here in the US and was disappointed that it doesn't seem to be available here. I'll keep looking. There has to be a way to get it. I wanted to add that there's supposedly a film version in development for MacIntyre's other book Agent Zigzag, based on the Eddie Chapman tale. Good stuff. Gimme a con man and an espionage mission in a compelling historical setting and I'm hooked.

I just finished Point of Origin by Duke and Nancy Kell. It was a pretty cool plot- just the kind of plot I like- but the writing was really distracting. I hate when that happens! (review on my blog if you're interested)

I'm not sure what to read next. I have so many books on my eTBR, but I think the plibrary book that is due on Tuesday is going to win out. It's by Terri Blackstock and it's called "predator."

I read (well, sort of read, sort of skimmed) the book this evening. It was just "ok." Guess I'm on to something else! Now I can return it with a clear conscience
