By all means, elaborate. Given a certain claim about the existence of beings for the existence of which there is no evidence (say, demons, ghosts, or djinn), what standards can be used to objectively evaluate the claim and determine whether it should be accepted?

The Nazi part was not attacking Judaism as a set of religious beliefs-- they were attacking the Jewish as a race of people. And that is an utterly, utterly different thing. I'd have a big problem with an art exhibit displaying Jews as hook-nosed, baby-eating racist characterizes. I'd have no problem at all with a display making fun of beliefs in indestructible bones and head boxes, though.
I dislike both, but I'd just like to point out that racism is an idea. Nazis thought that Jews as a race weren't worthy of living next to them.

That depends on what you mean. It is legal for residents of the town as individuals; it is not legal for the council to officially recognize the holiday and make it illegal to, ooh, sell alcohol during it or make it illegal to have restaurants open before sunset.

Agreed. But we should be free to criticize those elements we find fantastic or harmful.

I'm not comfortable with artwork that skewers cherished beliefs, but the right to produce such works should be protected. If it isn't, then freedom means only the freedom to voice accepted opinions.

And that's no freedom at all.

As somebody whose name escapes me once said, "I don't agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it".
That would be Beatrice Hall in her Friends of Voltaire (1907). It was a phrased she used to suggest Voltaire’s attitude. (She explained as early as 1935 that she had not meant to attribute the actual phrasing to Voltaire, although most people today believe the quote to be his.) Her exact words were, "I disagree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it."

Although it does seem to be OK for everyone to publicy ridicule Christians more than any other faith. Just the same way it seems to be OK to make a white man look like a buffoon in television ads. Try the same with a black guy or a woman and everyone cries "rascist" or "sexist".

I am neither a Christian nor a white man, and I think that everyone should be ridiculed equally.

Beliefs have consequences. That isn't to say that certain beliefs should be censored, but no beliefs should be beyond criticism. What harm is there in believing in homeopathy? Probably very little, until a child dies as a result of his parents belief that diarrhea can best be cured by homeopathic medicines or a cancer patient dies because they relied on homeopathic remedies rather than Western medicine.

I wonder how much this controversy/publicity will increase the selling price of Enrique Chagoya's next painting.

That's been going on for a very long time.
