Yes! Triple yes! Especially novels. I do have some books (also grad school requirements, for the most part) in both paper and PDF format, and it is much easier to navigate the paper versions as I am not reading the books straight through but am jumping around to different sections; I have several reference books (mostly Latin and Greek grammars) both in paper in PDF format, and those are especially hard to navigate on my reader. PDFs that aren't especially designed for a reader are often cumbersome on a 6 inch screen. It's a shame, though, I feel much more comfortable reading off my reader these days, especially when heavy books are in question. I've had good luck with PDFs of journal articles on my reader, they read like a dream for the most part, and I'm so happy that I don't have to lug around loose printed pages all the time anymore.

I just added another magazine subscription that isn't available for ereaders and I'm none too happy about it (although the content is worth the trouble). The magazines I subscribe to are mostly text based and would be wonderful on my Kindle.

Im reading, or trying to "Evolution" by Stephen Baxter.

I haven't seen a paper version, is it huge?

I'm only to the 37% marker on my locations, and it seems like I've been reading forever.......

At one time, I was also a subscriber to their sister magazine, Bible Review, but that has since ceased publication and merged with BAR. Hershel Shanks, the editor of Bar, is usually fairly reliable, but the magazine isn't perfect. Shanks did get manage to get himself tangled up in knots when he pronounced the James ossuary genuine, for example.

I'd rather subscribe to the Journal of Biblical Literature, but I can't justify the $180.00 yearly subscription fee.

They are print magazines. I would like to see them offered as e-magazines for Kindle.

I'm pleased to say that I really enjoyed Flinx Transcendent.

After dragging the story out over the previous three books, this books seems to contain all the action that was missed out of them. Good stuff, and an excellent last few lines.

Now for Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison. I picked this up when it was cheap/free a while back. It looked interesting, and is the first in a series.

Yea Baxter's books tend to be pretty big nowadays, and come in series. I believe there's 3 books in this series. Great writer tho!

Oh not at all- I love readong real paper books-cant beat that feel! My next read will be Something Wicked this Way Comes by Ray Bradbury- an appropriate book for Halloween

I annoys me to have to read a book in paper form, but not too much. It does annoy me if I can't find it at the library and have to buy it though. I may not do it unless I really really really want or need it read it.

Just finished Bryant and May Off the Rails (Christopher Fowler) - the latest installment in the Peculiar Crimes Unit series - was disappointed/not entertained. The real charm of this series is the bevy of quirky characters and their interactions - including Crippen the cat. This book was plot driven - tying up the Mr. Fox story line begun in "On the Loose" and mourning the death of a squad member. No sub-plots, no intrigue, a lot of minor but important characters didn't even have a cameo appearance. No seances, no witches. Very little historical detail - even though the action occurred in the London Underground - which has a fantastically rich historical record.

Bottom line - the book seems to have been written just to tie up the Mr. Fox plot line and remove the threat to the PCU's existence, and to get something published in 2010. Very little laugh-out-loud humor, even less dialogue between characters. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Only one brief description caused me to laugh:

I just started "Dead Witch Walking" yesterday too, without seeing this post. I've had it for a while, got it during the same promo. Freaky, we must be on the same wavelength :P

Finished "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" by Rebecca Skloot this morning.

An extremely interesting story of one African-American family and their attempts to learn more about their Mother and the cancer cells removed from her body and continue to survive until today. Along the way, there's discussions of bioethics, gene patents and the industry that has been built around biotechnology.
