I'm glad you love your new reader, Terraskye. When you get your Kindle 3 you will really have the best of both worlds. Enjoy!

Wow! Thanks for the link. Those designs are impressive looking. There are too many I like to select a favorite. Now I see why you are such a fan.

I'm using one of the Oberon Design journal covers for my 650 with velcro: it's a perfect fit. Pictures here.

Thanks, pikelet! For a 650, I think your idea of velcro with the small journal cover makes the most sense.

It's also a bit cheaper and there are more options

Well, I finally ventured into the deep dark heart of the University district here in Seattle-ish and purchased my 650.

Wow!

I won't add to the obvious comments about the pearl white screen, amazing touch response, and quick page turns... But I will emphasize the "page mode" margin cut.

Brilliant. I recently purchased Harry Harrison's The Stainless Steel Rat Returns, and was shocked by the default margins built into the ebook, far too large. But I just tapped the "margin cut" option and it worked like a charm. Much better.

This may have been available with the 600 model, but I bypassed that generation.

BTW mine is red, with a black case with built in light.

And I love the dictionary feature.

Harrison, for humorous reasons I imagine, or just to get people looking at the dictionary, uses the term "borborygmus" on page 99.

I will let you look it up too.

Interesting. A common sound that I never knew had a name.

It's definitely not discriminatory against us blessed with superior left hand!
The device is compact and lite enough to even hold in one hand and flip pages with your thumb by swiping the screen.

I honestly didn't think Sony would pull off another touch screen e-reader using e-ink after the horrible reflective screen on the last model. I even bought a spare 505 thinking that Sony had hit the wall. While I miss the navigation arrows on the 505 (and the lanyard ring), the built in dictionary and better screen on the 650 makes this the go-to ereader.

No, seriously. I take my reader with me to work so when I'm carrying it to the car with my coffee and whatnot it is nice to slip a wrist cord around your hand so you don't risk dropping it. I dropped the 505 (with case) a few times doing this before I put a wrist strap on it. Even with a case, these reader WILL get damaged when dropped from short heights.

On the bottom left.

Me, too. The lanyard has saved my 505 a number of times.
