Just finished Dark Blood by Stuart McBride - really enjoying the McRae series. Set in Aberdeen, funny, quirky and just about blood lusty enough for me.

Just finishing up White Seed: The Untold Story of the Lost Colony of Roanoke
by Paul Clayton.

I know others have praised the book in this thread but let me add my 2 cents worth. This book is very well written, very well researched and very engaging. I highly recommend it.

Based on the title, maybe not so strange after all...

I'm in a "feel good" phase of my life. I only want to read (and watch) things that make me feel better, not worse. Bring on the rainbows and unicorns!

Thanks for that. I have this on my to-read list and it just moved up a few notches.

I love how she writes also. Just bought Lady in the Tower. I know it will be good, her books usually are. They should teach all history like this.

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus One of the books that's been on my to read list for a long time. But I'm glad you still like us girls enough to watch things bounce around while we're running

I've finally started reading 'The Black Prism' by Brent Weeks. I read his first trilogy (Night Angel Trilogy) and was blown away by it. His new series is a little less dark but so far I really like it (about one third in). I think it's going to be a looong night

For Joyce I'll make a suggestion: try reading him aloud. Joyce's primary sense was apparently hearing, and he was in part trying to reproduce what he heard on his famous walks through Dublin.

Oh, my. Let's also toss in Smalltalk, and concepts that Apple brought to fruition in the Macintosh. (I believe a number of PARC folks wound up in the Mac development group at Apple.

I tended to describe Xerox as a company known for developing technology other companies turned into useful products.

Just finished 'Zoo City' by Lauren Beukes. My first exploration of the Urban fantasy genre. Must say I was pleasantly surprised, and the fact that it's set in South Africa was also great.

Read my Zoo City review here.

Just finished The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, trans. by The Rev. H.F. Cary, M.A. (The Harvard Classics edition). I found The Inferno to be the most interesting part. Not that I'm checking it out as a future real estate investment, I hope.

A good collection of stories, most (all) of which I hadn't come across before.

Now for a freebie. Spellwright by Blake Charlton. It has had some fairly good reviews at Amazon.

Just finished The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and I thought it was excellent. Gives you a great insight into Afghanistan and its people.
